as you said, there’s nothing wrong about it. it definitely is a much better looking car than the rest of the id lineup in my opinion. the wagon for some reason is a lot more appealing imo, i would definitely choose that instead of the sedan.

One person’s bland is another person’s clean and sophisticated. I think the design of this thing is very attractive and dignified. It’s not meant to appeal to aggressive tendencies the way the ID2 concept was. This car is aimed at a father of two with an office job and a bit of a commute that wants a good comfortable car to drive. Or even someone that wants to buy a car that will speak well of them when they pick up a client for a lunch meeting. I think this car is going to seek extremely well.

Nothing wrong with the ID.7 design, it's just bland.

The thing is with the ID7 is that it's not a car, it's a product. Yes, it has 4 wheels and an engine (electric skateboard in this case) and gets you from A-B, but it's not meant to be anything more than that. Nothing to stare at, nothing to personalise it with, VW are known for making some of the blandest cars possible. I can see it becoming popular in fleets. Unlike the GTR which is made for enthusiasts. The only 'enthusiast' EV I can currently think of is the Hyundai N-Vision and the Dodge EV Charger

As bland as you consider this vehicle to be I really expect this vehicle to sell very well. I’m glad VW has set a foot forward to stay in this segment. I know SUV’s sell well but everyone doesn’t want/need to have that much space. It’s refreshing to see a simple sedan. Keep in mine the Camry JUST began to look like anything with the current generation and that has proven to be a best seller year after year. I enjoyed your review per usual and I love the design of this vehicle. Good job VW ✊🏾

VW does not have to team up with Porsche on e-fuels, it's the same company. And for all those who would like to have e-fuels, the process is 3x more inefficient than driving directly with electricity from the battery, i.e. you need 3x as much renewable energy for it, ergo 3x as many wind turbines and solar plants.

I loved their iD Space Vizzon station wagon. I can’t wait until that’s released. Check it out, the design looks great!

Spot on! as always... Its like you speak for me, especially with the interior screens, designers must listen to you and us in general this ipads are so hard to operate at high speeds or manovering

I completely agree with what you said early in the video that no one will remember this design a few years from now. Also agree that both VW and MB have lost their identity with their electric models. The interior of the MB is quite beautiful and striking but exterior is bland at best. Thx as always for your great videos!

There aren't many Youtubers, in the automotive segment, that take things, that seriously. Another professional review.

Agree with your points, a bit bland, but I still like it more than the Hyundai Ioniq6 or Mercedes EQE / EQS, which are way too bubbly.
I especially like it in the blue color, can't wait for the facelift with ID.2 details 😉

Feels like the thing with synthetic fuel is it's not gonna be for the masses. The fact it's Porsche and not the whole VAG group pushing it means it's for folk with current ICE sports cars and possible future exotic cars and maybe racing series.

The thing with bland is it ends up being timeless. Some of the coolest designs age poorly, and it's the quirky or bland that lasts forever. And you can trust the inventors of the beetle to be the kings of quirky and bland.

If they drop the wagon I'm pretty sure they would sell well

Synthetic fuels are expensive. Bigger problem for synthetic is it still releases carbon/emissions...therefore will never be allowed in zero emission zones.

Totally agree with this video. It is an inconspicuous car that you will soon forget. In terms of shape, I always call it a bar of 'polished' soap that you have washed your hands with. And that, contrary to what others claim, is NOT typical Volkswagen. Take the Golf, the Beetle or the original bus (but also the new one) and you will see that there are indeed Volkswagens with a more pronounced character. I am also very curious why all EV interiors are so the same and so incredibly sterile and boring? Can someone explain that? Thanks for this video, a great one.

Seriously do the math on synthetic fuels. Nobody will be putting synthetic fuel in their daily driver, the volume needed will take a decade to arrive and by then the cost of making an ICE car will be way more expensive than a BEv. It’s over. Synthetic fuels will be for the wealthy 1% for their antique car collection.

Somebody tell him that Porsche is a brand owned by Volkswagen AG.

You know very well that there is only one exterior design solution for best aero numbers and both Mercedes and VW have tried to go there. Unfortunately, they look like bars of soap; however, unless/until batteries become more efficient, this is what we'll get to increase range on pure EVs.

Couldn't disagree more! E fuels are going no where. Waste of time and money. The ID.7 is not a blob. I like what they're doing in designing a new language for EVs. As a driver of VWs for 50 years and an owner of 17 VWs and an ID.4 I will probably get the ID.7 when available
