The Coolest Thing We've Ever Built

In this special video, we set out to create a unique award for Bob Kinsey, the talented designer behind the iconic Roanoke Star. If you're not familiar, the Roanoke Star is a massive illuminated landmark atop Mill Mountain in Roanoke, Virginia, and has become a symbol of the city. We wanted to make this award truly special, so we decided to create a scaled-down model of the Roanoke Star itself.

Join us as we take you through the entire process, from the initial design concept to the final assembly and presentation. You'll see how we use advanced fabrication techniques to replicate the star's distinctive shape, along with some creative touches to make it one-of-a-kind.

Don't forget to like, subscribe, and hit the notification bell so you don't miss any of our upcoming projects! Thanks for watching, and we hope you enjoy this tribute to a true Roanoke legend!

That award is cracking, what a shame “Bob” never got to receive it himself. Nice one guys, definitely one to be proud of 👏👏👏👏

I give it 5 Stars: 🌟🌟🌟🌟🌟. Anyone passing through Roanoke needs to pay a visit to the 'Star', Black Dog Salvage and get in contact with Tay and his bros'. Have him make something up for you. These guys are capable of creating anything unique. I've seen there work up close. Give them a challenge and they will figure it out.

Great work boys.. Community pays off in so many ways. My shop is the go-to, in my town for silent auction items. A few hours a month has kept my shop busy for 30 years. I'm just a welder, but to the town I'm an artist and that's translates $$. I never say "No" I also learned to not hand them something I've made extra of. Tell them that you'd be glad to make them something and have them come back in a few days. This really makes them feel like you sacraficed for their cause...

A Star is Born. Great episode. And what the hell is that box frame thing we saw on the bench? A time machine perhaps?

You should just make the star design into a hot plate for the kitchen. Probably sell a ton of them in your area. [Design it so it's just one pass on the machine with no welding. ]

Could of taken black material/ribbon and woven it into the structure around the star for some of the shots. ❤

Great video! I recently made some cool stainless art, is there a way that I could send y’all some pictures of my work and possibly make an art piece for y’all?
