How it Works

Fifa 20
Increased dynamically every month based on performances
Fifa 21/22/23
Increases at end of season based on season performance
No Cap/Scaling on Potential
Same performances can raise potential from 60 to 70 or 89 to 99 depending on the starting potential
Almost any YA player can reach 99
Nearly every real player can, provided they’re above 65 ovr when 30 years old

How it increases

Match Rating is biggest factor
Avoid bringing players on in final few mins
Increases more for club starts than sub appearances even if subbed on in 1st min
This makes no sense because that's how it works IRL
Play weak players against the weakest possible teams
Eg Cup games
Can increase when signed
Also increases at end of a loan
This can be exploited with loads of short loans
Player Happiness also affects potential increases
Try to keep all 4 Morales Green for best chance of increase
Amount of increase is reliant on squad role too
If you meet Crucial player requirements with young player
Potential goes up massively
If not met requirements
Potential goes down slightly
Makes sense to give them the highest role you can realistically use them in

Things i’d change

Don't punish teams fighting relegation with potential loss
Players will get more experience playing at bottom of prem than top of championship, but in FIFA this is reversed
Scale the level system so reaching 95 from 90 is harder than reaching 80 from 75
Make experience gain more fair for defensive players
Attackers get more boost for 1 goal than defenders do for clean sheet
Make YA Starting potentials lower on average than they are atm
Only 13 players on FIFA 22 are 17 with over 85 potential
Your YA will have more than this within 1 season

I like dynamic player potential, you can be creative with players no ones heard of or save the career of an older player like jesse lingard or dele alli

One small realistic tip for fifa cm is to not offer a new contract if your just gonna sell the player that year even if you could get more money for him having more years on his contracts. It’s makes it more difficult to get a higher transfer sum for that player which is more realistic than signing a player to a new contract and then selling them a couple weeks later imo.

It explains why one of my gem who had 92-94 potential struggle to reach 83 general, when I promote to first team he was 72 rated at 16, and then he lost a lot of potential, I had to sell him.

If you struggle with getting good ratings for the more defensive young players, try playing a game untill the 80-85th minute. Then pause the game, click on go to results, and the entire winning team gets a way higher average rating than if you complete the game yourself.

Here is a loophole/trick other than mentioned in this video. Always remember the date before monthly scout reports email. Save your game before it every single time. Then advance and open your scout report, if you don't like players found by your scout, save without saving. Re-open the previous save. Repeat the process.
For 15 yo: Player value above 1000K
For 16yo: Player value above 2000K
For 17yo: Player value above 3000K

My struggle is to find a player with decent looks. I dont know how @easports have so many weird looking youth academy suggestions with weird names.

On my player carrer mode I went on loan to a small team in Argentina got 21 skill points and earned loads of money by not playing they loaned me in September which is not when the Argentine league starts so I returned to Manchester united at a 75 overall in January

1 thing I dislike about dynamic potential is how it increases the overall of my bad players. For example for the first half of my season with Palace, all my players like eze and guehi were going up to 80 overall despite us being in 19th. I feel it’s good for unknown players but is OP for anyone with decent potential.

Here's something FIFA can borrow/tweak from Football Manager to increase the challenge: Make it harder for weaker teams/lower leagues to hold onto wonderkids for too long. Think about it. If you were at the bottom of league two and ended up with a youth player rated 70-75 with 90+ potential, in real life there's no way a team in the top 5 leagues with deep pockets isn't going to try poaching them. The young player will eventually want to leave, because in their mind there's no guarantee you'll climb the ranks fast enough, and they'd rather go play for Ajax or Benfica with a good chance of immediate European football. I know this would be frustrating, but hear me out.

I think a system like this would increase the length of the challenge and make it harder to farm dynamic potential in lower leagues. Right now everyone builds a team of 60-65 rated youth players in the bottom league, and by the time they get promoted to the top flight (3 seasons in England) most of their players are already in the mid 80s with some maybe even in the 90s. In reality, players with that kind of growth/potential would have been snatched up by a top side at the end of that first season. No way a 17 year old striker with 45+ goals in league 2 isn't getting poached by a team like Newcastle or Fulham.

So what would this more difficult system mean? In a nutshell, you'd have to be more careful about how you develop your players. You'd also have to plan around the chance of losing some of them, and selling them to reinvest in other/future players. If you take too long to get to the top flight, then you'll probably be forced to sell some of those super talented wonderkids. This gives you more reason to build a more "league appropriate team", with players that you could convince to stay rather than leave. Yes, you'll lose your 80 rated striker if they turn 19/20 and you aren't even in the English Championship yet. But you'll probably keep all those ~75 rated under 20 year olds for at least another season, giving you the chance to get promoted before some of them ask to leave.

Of course there can be other factors that decide if a player wants to leave or stay. Loyalty, relationships with other players and manager, etc. But I think some version of the system I outlined above would make "building a team" feel more realistic and fair. It would stop players from starting with 55 rated nobodies and winning the champions league in 3 seasons. If some people don't want to play career mode for that long, then put an option in that turns this system off for that save. Easy.

Of course, EA are lazy and only care about the money in Ultimate Team. So any such changes are probably never going to happen.

I don't think it's over powered or broken. Realistically if a player is playing so well their potential is obviously going to be better than it was before. If you have a player that has a potential of 80-84 but scores or assists almost every game, in real life that player is very special and would be worth 150+ million in todays market. Especially if Mbappé could go for so much money in 2017 for only having a good run in the champions league so I think it's fair

Youth scouting needs complete overhaul. To balance it, I think it would be better to set up recruiting a bit more like there is a pool of candidates and you will be competing with other teams recruiting in that region. So that 90-94 potential player is probably gonna go to Real Madrid, Barcelona or Man City…it’s currently way too easy to build a team of treble winning superstars from youth scouting with the likes of Colchester United!?

for defenders I play passes with my Center backs until they reach a 7+ the drill goes like this, Playin LOTS of passes until I confuse the oppoiment team and find space with the CB I want to give good performance. then I rush and give a long pass and try to score....the cb gets an assist. I end up most matches with CBs being 10s. i also sometimes try to score by running from the middle.

I like the dynamic potential, but I don't like that it only affects my own team. All other players have a fixed maximum potential which they ALWAYS reach after some time. They should change that as well, but I don't have that much faith in EA
