Maple Grove Police Chief Reflects on Peace Officers Memorial Day

May 15 marked National Peace Officers Memorial Day. Maple Grove Police Chief Eric Werner reflected on the day after attending the funeral on Friday for Katie Leising, the 29-year-old St. Croix County Sheriff’s deputy who was shot and killed by a suspected impaired driver who had driven off the road. “It’s always impressive to see the show of support when you have 1,000 law enforcement vehicles show up and thousands of officers show up, and I just think that gives the magnitude of the loss,” said Werner.
