T. Rex were an English rock band, formed in 1967 by singer-songwriter and guitarist Marc Bolan. The band was initially called Tyrannosaurus Rex, and released four psychedelic folk albums under this name. In 1969, Bolan began to shift from the band's early acoustic sound to an electric one. The following year, he shortened their name to T. Rex. The 1970 release of the single "Ride a White Swan" marked the culmination of this development, and the group soon became a commercial success as part of the emerging glam rock scene.

The younger generation might not realize how massive T. Rex were in the early 70s. Whenever a new single came out the whole school would listen to it on the radio and see who was the first to buy it. They still sound terrific and different.

This is why I never get tired of listening to 70s rock. This is simple, hooky and just sexy power.

I was more of a Sweet fan but as I’ve got older and really listened it’s obvious that Bolan was an absolute genius…and this performance is so fierce…just outstanding

I loved T-REX, often wondered why they weren't bigger and more popular than they were. There sound still holds up today. My 30 year old daughter has discovered them and she absolutely loves 'em.... Marc Bolan was awesome!

Ah, growing up in the 70's. These kids today (old guy talkin') don't know how great we had it.

Absolutely loved Marc’s guitar playing. One of the few that could flawlessly combine rhythm and lead. The other that could do it well was Steve Marriot. I just loved both their styles. They were never recognized as great players but it was pure unadulterated rock and roll!

Most of their songs sound so much like 80s' . Clearly they were way ahead of their time. Ingenious. Phenomenal.

Finally live congas. Good performance. I still love you Marc like the first day.
😎👍💯💖
I remember this Musicladen like today. I ran to watch it at a neighbor's on another tv program, and I still only had one program.
There were more Slade and Roxy Music as far back as I can remember.
😎👍💯💖🤔

He is definitely one of the best. Great music, raw but perfectly balanced.

Just amazing - the power, the swagger. Such a shame that most people remember only Bang a Gong (Get it on).

The drummer always freaks me out, he never takes his eyes off T-REX, it’s like he’s drumming his heartbeat 💗
