Usually locals put the lomi salmon and poi together... mix it together, eat the laulau, kalua pig... EVERYTHING... OMG in hungry now

Awesome you guys 🤙🏽 do wanna elaborate on the importance of Kalo (taro) in Hawaii.. it is said that our deity birthed Haloa, a stillborn, who was planted into the earth where the first kalo plant sprouted.. the Hawaiian people are able to cultivate the kalo plant over and over and over by taking the leaf and root and replanting part of the stem/root.. the cycle of life.. the deeper part of this is how in tune the Hawaiians were with the land and the sea.. I am Hawaiian, part of a beautiful culture, and am proud of where I come from 😊

I agree that its an acquired taste. Even if it is bland. It’s hard to describe when one is saying it’s bland. But that makes sense to dunk it into something else to really enjoy its potential. I can also say, that out of all the food I’ve eaten on the island, the authentic Hawaiian food is the tastiest out of everything else. It’s the one type of food where my whole family enjoyed the most as a whole. Not even the Giovanni’s was great compared to a more less known to tourist and more loved by locals and that’s Jenny’s. Good stuff here🤍
