Recently released report by Oxfam titled “Inequality Kills” has highlighted the sharp difference in the distribution of wealth of India. The report has been released at a time when FM Nirmala Sitharaman will soon be announcing the annual budget on Feb 1st. OXFAM report should be looked upon as an eye opener and not damned. The recent agitation by jobless youths in Bihar and UP could be a start for even more agitations all over the Country. Employment generation has to be the only focus of the FM. Divestment can wait.

Totally agree with your view point, the implementation has been very poor when we talk about Disinvestments and creation of jobs. Only the slganeering will not help, no doubt Modi Govt. has done well in managing Inflation and extending help to the poorest of poor during the pandemic time. Now we need out of box thinking and march towards social equality and douse the fire of discontentment of depreived classes. I hope our FM will come upto our expectations.

Really glad to see the main issues being brought up here. I will be very surprised though, if the Budget does indeed address any of this

On a separate note, the collapse of the Soviet Union about 30 years ago now we're realising now its impact. Capitalism as an ideology is on a rampage with no alternative in sight
