Exactly Gary. it is abominable. There is a great study by Wilkenson and Pickett 2009 on inequality and social maladies all over the world. They are highly correlated

Also, look up the "Buckaroo" currency, I saw Warren Mosler talking about it. It was a small scale very successful currency where one buckaroo=one hour in socially beneficial labor.
Each Uni student had to either earn or buy X Buckaroos to pass their course. It could be scaled up as a second currency.

Labour family quality of life improves and their children end up thinking they are conservatives. Liz Truss is one example. Tories are party of the Barons and Labour is about workers of every class in the Social stratified system but the media misleads people at voting periods. Demonising Jeremy Corbin is one example.

With a Currency Sovereign Govt, Taxes don't pay for spending anyway. The things that matter are:
(1) too little or too much currency in the economy, and who has it.
(2) real resource limitations

The best way to help the poor is growth. Truss tried but with terrible timing, terrible communication and with almost no funding planning. Done at the right time and in a well planned manner this is the safest route forward.
