Just a correction: Windows Pro edition has Bitlocker, Home edition does not. You have to pay for the upgrade.

Id expect better work from WSJ. The audio of music in the background during this is WAY beyond -6db. Please fire the video producer behind this, they did a horrendous job.

But, that’s not actual security. That’s just the basics

02:13 "Use TOR... and is used by criminals..." didn't expect anything else from the Wall Street Journal

The Wallstreet Journal is endorsing Edward Snowden? I’m suspicious, I trust Snowden more than WSJ

Here's a tip, accept the internet is a (fish bowl) and you have no privacy.
Keep anything classified off the net.

Government agencies are already able to comprimise Tor nodes. If you use Tor, use whonix in virtual box or tails.

The fact that this is coming from WSJ makes me believe all these tips have been compromised

Plenty not mentioned in the video. PLENTY.

In the USA, civil courts can legally ORDER you to hand over your passwords. So HD encryption is useless.
HD Encryption prevents only some people from accessing your stuff.

Windows has built in back doors and so to HD makers.

Am I missing anything?
1. Hard drive encryption
2. DuckDuckGo
3. Ghostery
4. Tor

If you want privacy, quit internet and all modern gadgets. If you have lots of money to protect, hire a security specialist. If you want to relax, just have no money or anything worth stealing.

"forget firfox, and use tor, its used by criminals to hide their identity."
you could not have worded that worst mate.
Firefox can be set up for privacy, and tor isn't used mainly by criminals, mostly by journalists, governments, as well as whistleblowers and pro+ privacy users.
please don't give he onion a bad name.

EDIT
if you want real privacy, heres some better tips
look into keeping a stock laptop, as just a cover device, and set it in the BIOS to run from USB instead of harddrive on boot, so you can use a thing called TAILS OS, which is a Linux distro.
look into file encrytion software thats open source, and create dummy files to mix up your Dir in case someone gets a hold of your stuff.
if your using persistent storage on your tails usb (which i'd advise against in most circumstances) make sure to understand and fully trust the software your using on it, as well as the places your going on with it.
TOR isn't a miricle to online privacy, theres still ways to be tracked through it, however not easilly.
your best bet is to have a custom VPN, on a public network with a disquised IP address, and only connected to the internet when you need to be.

NUMBER ONE RULE
if you want privacy, get off the internet. it wasn't built with privacy in mind in the first place, theres much safer ways to keep your privacy offline.
or just play greyman, and try to blend in with the mases. works for most anyways.

For maximum security I write my search queries onto a small piece of paper, I tie it to the leg of a carrier pidgeon, I set the pidgeon free and await the search results when he flys back. Good luck intercepting that big gov!

The constant bombardment of porn music really ads to the credibility of this report.

You can't encrypt SSDs reliably, now can you? :(

I'm not even going to pretend I can protect myself. Most people don't have time for this, and children and young adults often don't know why it's important. In other news, I need a camera that can find items around my apartment as well as assisting me in organizing. I've always had problems with being messy due to executive functions, but after December especially, I have a very poor short-term memory. Come on in Big Brother. Smiles to myself. Someone is going to have to see me. Benjamin Franklin once said: "Those who would give up essential Liberty, to purchase a little temporary Safety, deserve neither Liberty nor Safety." Well, it's 2021, I think, and we have to address a new type of society and danger.

Are you trying to say that Ed Snowden would tell us that we should use Microsoft BitLocker?! He would never say that because he knows that Microsoft is the source of almost all windows malware, and BitLocker is just one of their many tools in their current control set.

He never shared the tip on encrypting your emails with PGP, whether as a stand alone program or an Outlook or Thunderbird plugin.
