Had the same issue (right side). I cleaned the inside of the charger with a Q-tip with a tiny bit of rubbing alcohol. Been working great ever since. Not sure what the risks are of shorting the charger so go easy on the alcohol.

If we have to go through these extra steps just to use these things, are they really better than the wired headphones?

My airpod shows that the right one is fully charged but it doesn't even turn on, while the left one works fine

I thought this was going to be click bait, but changing the cable actually worked. Thanks, bro. Whats ironic is that the pods wouldnt charge with the cable they came with. I had to use my phone charger. lol

try also cleaning the bottom of where the headphones charge, sometimes there’s lint that covers the charging

Oh my goodness, it does explain a lot on why my right AirPods keep dying much more faster and why it doesn’t charge as fast. I feel quite stupid for not realizing it but thanks!

I have all the original accessories and use the same for charging, still having this problem...Any thoughts?

Hey buddy thanks a lot!! Your suggestion worked for me. I have tried resetting the airpods 100s of times it didn’t worked. But when i tried original apple cable it charged my left airpods. I really appreciate your help. God bless you :)

my right one dosnt detect its in my ear so my left one only works and when i try to connect them it only has a battery percentage under the left one

I literally just cleaned the ear part with my shirt and it started flashing. Try it!

Thanks, I changed the plug and both airpods are charging now :) so happy I thought they were broken

fixed my AirPods with the PINENG Wireless Power Bank () with the attached cable! With the original cables don1t work. Hope this helps.
