If Döner is around 7€ in my village, it's probably like 10€ in the city now. Also the crucial ingredient beside the meat are the raw cabbage and onions, they bring the special flavor. Also it's not in the same category as Schnitzel. Döner and Bratwurst are street food, Schnitzel is home cooking or restaurant. We have a special Schnitzel variant, Schnitzel-Brötchen, for street food.

As a Turkish guy i can confirm that Döner Kebap wasn't invented in Berlin in 1972 but rather it was made by the Ottomans during the 19th century, although Döner Kebap was made more international and popular in other places than Türkiye by the Immigrants you mentioned

It was not invented in Berlin in 1972. Putting it in bread was. The doner kebab was created in the 19th century in the ottoman empire

I left Berlin to live in Asia 5 years ago and let me tell you. Döner Kebab is by far the one thing I miss the most. Just for old times sake:
Einmal Kräuter-Scharf, Salat komplett bitte 😭

It wasn't invented in Germany but Turkish workers used available spices, things that Germans would enjoy. Eg. Doner should be made with muscle cuts but many places sell what's basically salami (emulsified meat).

The moment she said 3.50 I immediately checked the description to see how old the video is 😂😂😂
A combination of Doner kebab and a beer costs 10 euros at most places in Germany

Technically it is the doner kebab sandwich that was created in Germany when a shop owner notice Germans were too busy to sit and eat doner kebab on a plate. I ate a lot of this when I was in Germany in 1997 as I didn’t speak German and this was something I could safely order and know what I was going to get. Even Italian restaurants used German menus that I couldn’t understand.

This was the staple of my diet while I was stationed in Germany. Seriously like twice a week

Doner exists since ottomans. It was invented by Ottoman Turks.

Döner kebabs were introduced to the UK in 1966, many years before Germany had them. We also do them way better than Germany does.

As in; the exact way Germany makes them already existed and was introduced to the UK a decade before Germany even heard of them.

Döner was invented in Bursa in 1880s.😅

Yeah right it was invented in Berlin and Ottomans were eating currywurst and schnitzel at that time 🤣

They just can’t get it right here in NYC. Wish we had a solid Döner spot
