We all know how great Muhammad Ali was. But what about being the greatest? Without a shadow of a doubt, Muhammad was a very influential figure in the world. When the people gathered at the stadium, Muhammad could have declared, "I want to be your President." If he had led, everyone would have followed. That's how much praise they had for him. This man was a genius in his craft and used his fighting IQ to make a fool out of boxing legends like Joe Frazier, George Foreman and Larry Holmes who were a lot bigger than him.

My military Father detested Ali for his refusal to fight for our country in Vietnam. When Ali lost to Frazier, my Father was ecstatic. He shouted "the Louisville Lip is SHUT!!" More than 30 years later, he and I were watching a special on Ali and my Father looked at me and said- "he was right, I was wrong".

I cried twice about Ali. When he lit the Olympic torch I cried and when he passed away I cried. To me he was the textbook definition of just how far truly believing in yourself can take you.

The reasons for Ali’s greatness are so many, it’s unreal.
- the longevity of his career.
- the number of legends he beat.
- the fact he fought and beat every style in boxing.
- never counted out
- hardly ever knocked down.
- only losing close split decisions in his prime.
- being an underdog 10 years apart, and winning both times against unstoppable monsters.
- reinventing his style as he got older to compensate losing his fast feet.
- having an insane ring IQ, the ability to change his game plan in the middle of a fight.
- rematching the fighters that gave him tough fights, several times (most fighters these days duck and squirm to avoid fighting them once, let alone three times.)

How many fighters can compare to that?

Muhammed Ali wasn't just the greatest boxer of all time, he was simply without any iota of doubt, the greatest sports person of all time. Period.

Without a doubt. The GOAT, no sportsperson will ever have the same impact on a sport like he did. All his fights were like gold dust, magical and mesmerising.
There will never be another Muhammad Ali!!!

As a child growing up in my early teen years in the 70s, Ali was all the water cooler talk and his competition as well. Ali fought all the greats and beat them all. Some people are born with an inner torch inside themselves that outshines all others. This was Ali. Greatest fighter of his entire generation and set the mold for others to follow not just in boxing but for life as well. RIP champ.

If word got out that Ali was going to be somewhere there would be 10, 000 people out there waiting to get a glimpse of him. He was the greatest. Hands down.

I was blessed to see him in his prime. You have no idea what a towering figure he was to us. A gift from the Creator of the Universe.

Ali could box or fight, his athleticism and chin were very exceptional, a peak Ali would trouble anyone.

I am nearing my 72nd year and nothing much surprises me nowadays, but I am still at a loss to understand people who think that Marciano could have had any chance of besting Ali.

It was a a cold day in Toronto, and it was quite early in the morning, around about 4:30, and I'm strolling up Young Street towards Bloor, and who do I see just wearing a long open coat, Muhammed Ali, and he's semi-sparring as he's walking towards me, with one of his trainers near by, he looked at me and I looked at him and said have a great day Cassius Clay, not thinking at the time, he had changed his name to Muhammed Ali, still he smiled at me and gave me a wink, as I kept on walking hoping to catch my bus. What a moment and what an amazing individual he was. My. only regret was not calling him Muhammed Ali instead of his former name, but that's life, and he didn't seem to mind, but it's a moment I'll never forget.

I had the absolute gift of meeting Ali back in, like, '88 or' 89. I had no idea how significant it was at that moment and when I sat on his lap, at his request, I asked "are we were related?" Everyone in the room burst into laughter, including Muhammed, but he looked me dead in the eye and said "Yes, we are." I always remembered that. I believe some of his energy is still with me. Have a great day, if you made it this far😊

I think what makes a fighter the greatest is adaptability. Ali would just find a way to win, whatever the odds. If he loses he comes back and just wins next time.

You might look at today’s fighters and think they’re bigger and more technically sophisticated than the ones who were around during his time. You may be right, but it wouldn’t matter for him. He would find a way to adapt to their style and strength, and he would win. He would just do it.

I'll stand up for that man. Peace.
