PM Albanese congratulates Sir Keir Starmer on his projected UK election win

Prime Minister Anthony Albanese has reacted to UK election exit polls which predict a landslide victory for the Labour Party.

According to exit polls, the Labour leader is set for a thumping win.

"Labour is likely to have over 400 seats in the new parliament and to form a very strong government," Mr Albanese said on Friday.

"The British Labour Party is a sister party to the Australian Labor Party … I do want to say that I worked constructively with Rishi Sunak, and I wish him well.

“I congratulate all those who have been successful.”

If you think a win with 36% of the vote is a win, when in reality its a problem. The same in Australia, the ALP "won" the election with 32% of the vote - its time to move to proportional representation. If we don't do this we will simply get ever more ineffective government that doesn't reflect the will of the people.
