Using more internet than you actually use would only make sense in a plan with a data cap, having issues with your internet every once and a while makes sense, constantly having your internet slow down and having to use your data because it’s faster does not.

Lowkey think my isp throttles at peak time because even close to the router it’s worse than school wifi. Sometime YouTube won’t work for hours.

Downloading local files doesn't have this problem. While Wi-Fi might be convenient, but you're better off using wired where possible.

A router and modem are two different things even though sometimes they are contained in the same device. Your router doesn't connect to your ISP. Your modem does.

Just watched GAME OF THRONES at a lower bandwidth. Netflix is pretty good at adjusting for various internet speeds on the fly. YouTube and HBO on the other hand, not so much.

According to this video, you should switch to a Dial-Up connection and connect it to a Gigabit router to stream 8k videos without buffering.
