Actually the only difference between the two is that the old train came early and has a limited speed but it doesn't mean it can't be upgraded to match higher speeds, the US uses the same type of train only upgraded above the speed limit (armtrak)

It took this train 5 1/2 hours from Nairobi to Mombasa . This train was very slow but comfortable . Customer service was really good .

Pity that they didn't make a line for 160 kph or evan 200 kph... It wouldn't be much more expensive I guess... But still 120 kph is a progres :)

But the whole south of Africa has a vast railway network of 1067mm gauge. It was more practical to convert your 1000mm to 1067mm for interconnectivity

i have used the old train it took abt 14 hrs we were in first class but it became abit too much.
my kids call it mummies train.
we still went to south coast.
we were on holiday.
we took a bus back
i have never taken the sgr its alawys booked

The new modern train is more technologically advanced than the one built over 100 years ago, now you don't say CGTN.

Shame they were allowed to punch it through the middle of Nairobi National Park. I guess that what's happens when you sell your soul for the Belt and Roads Initiative!
