Turning OFF Hyper Threading on an old CPU - How bad can it be?

The i3 4130 from Intel is an old dual core processor, though thanks to Hyperthreading (4 threads) it can still perform somewhat respectably in older games. But what happens when you turn it off?

Im still using an i3-4130 to play the Witcher 3, as long as you don't mind a few stutters when it starts to render a city its actually pretty capable.

I am running a Ryzen 5 3600 with my Ryzen Wraith Spire cooler (from my 1500x from 2017) instead of the Wraith Stealth it came with and it runs at 4 GHz constantly on all games. Not to bad IMHO.

I am baffled by how well RDR2 ran on such an old processor, this is crazy, does the game rely more on the graphics card or why did the game run so well while also looking good?

My girlfriends dad has an i3-4130 paired with an HD 7970, 16GB DDR3 and a 2TB Hitachi drive. His system is a wee bit rough and slow to say the least.
