It seems that whenever people spend all this money on coaching it always falls short of their expectations.

I'm a freelance content writer, and I have noticed the same thing with coaches. They like to promise they can coach people into replacing their income with freelance writing, but the reality is that there just aren't enough people who want to pay freelance writers for written content to make that a realistic goal. And paying somebody money to first tell me I'm the greatest person in the world and just need to remind myself of that five-hundred times per day, then turn around and tell me I'm lazy and unfocused and an all-around terrible person when my thoughts don't magically make me a millionaire isn't going to alter the market in any way. I teach at salaried jobs, not coaching programs, to pay the bills and do the content writing on the side, because that's all it ever brings in.

You really nailed it at the end when you say to invest your time not your money. IMO some people can’t for whatever reason, and some people just won’t, but they still want to have their own business…and that makes them vulnerable to the business coaching scams.

I started a business in January of this year (I’m a massage therapist and I started a private practice) and turned a small profit in June. I learned what I needed to know by working in my industry for nine years before striking out on my own.

I still have a long way to go before I can pay my bills with the money from by business, so I have another job. It’s a lot of work, but things are looking good considering it’s only been eight months.

So my unsolicited advice is gain experience in your target industry before starting a business.
