Arai Tour X5 Review - Longer Term Test Update

I first rode in the new Arai Tour X5 at the launch in Almeria, Spain. The weather was warm, dry and sunny offering perfect riding conditions. However, the real test for the helmet would be once I got it back home to the UK. Having now worn it through a UK Winter, a wet one at that, do I still feel the same about it as I did on the launch? In this video, I cover all the key points that really matter. So how did the Arai Tour X5 do?

I’ve got the tour x5 with a light smoke visor which is road legal and safe at night on sunny days I use tinted dark googles which I carry with me work great 👍 keep up the great vids mate

I just bought an Arai and it doesn't bother me all not having a sun visor. I much prefer to wear sunglasses all day, way better vision as long as you have good quality lenses.🙂

I love the tx5, for-sure better than the tx4 . Ive had 7 Arai’s todate . Setting up comms a breeze in the tx5 .

Great review, I too have this helmet and love it. Summer it is amazing with the ventilation. Winter though it lets a fair bit of cold air in. I use a neck water and a balaclava as it simply gets too much air in. That's until I just saw that chin part.... dam.... thank you.... Fantastic run down and some great points. Thanks.

Perfect timing, I just purchased one yet to arrive. On the Comms front, do you use the boom mic as the helmets are slightly longer at the front?

At minute 3:30, I got the idea, probably wrong, that you thought the quick release system could turn out to be a potential negative point.

Thanks for the vid. I’ve never owned any Arai so am very interested in long term reviews like yours. It’s still a toss up between this and the Klim for me but I need something with a peak soon. Currently using a Neotec3 which is amazing but I miss that peak. Great honest vid. 👌🏍️

Thanks for the update on this helmet. I watched your video about the new Nexx wed helmet. In that video you mentioned how the next helmets peak is well damped and doesn’t resonate into the helmet. How does the Arai peak compare?

nice review thanks, I used to have XD4 and the fog was a real problem for me in winter. My question is about sizing and if there is a difference between the old and the new? I wore size small with XD4. Should I keep the same size with the new one?

I purchased the TX5 in March and love the fit etc. However, I find it more noisy than the TX4, actually a lot more noisy. I also get a very irritating rattle (sounds like mice scratching around in the helmet) from the small top vent when it is closed as the slider is a loose fit. When it is open the rattle stops. I wrote to Arai but have no response yet to see if this was common of a fault with my particular helmet. I run both the TX4 and TX5 side by side as I switch bikes so find the noise difference a constant cause of frustration.

I wanted the Aluminium Silver as in your review, sadly not available in the UK, very frustrating.
My local DNA centre wouldn't price match against Spanish price, so I bought from Motocard, wasn't able to buy the A Silver though.

X5 replaced my on the 5 sits higher than 3 so not as good for keeping the sun off the face, also much noisier than the 3. Riding to Yorkshire from the Cotswolds this week, give it a longer test.
