John Dowland's "Lachrimae Pavan" was first written for solo lute probably around 1596 and was later arranged for other instrument combinations and in various settings for the lute (and other arrangements) -- at least a hundred settings, arrangements, and transcriptions in total! -- and was a genuine hit of the Renaissance. This solo guitar arrangement and performance was made for a course on the piece for Classical Guitar Corner Academy. Hope you enjoy!

Simply gorgeous playing Dave - musically expressive and executed with seasoned control. A wonderful contribution to CGC and to whoever finds you here!!

Lovely, working on this at the moment with your edition. Could you tell me, in Bar 40, do you play that E in the first chord in the bar, or is it tied over from the E at the end of bar 39 and the first note you play is the semiquaver D#? I ask because judging by the fingering (1234) it would seem you do. Thanks. Lovely performance and just love that sweeping finish! Going to try to get that into my playing.
