Thank you for the helpful video. One question: Why are the wave fronts behind the aperture/obstacle considered to be straight? Why are they not considered to be curved like the wave front after the obstacle?

Very good. Nicely organised and presented to the point.

Why doesn't the wave travel backwards? Shouldn't the new sources in the wavefront radiate back? Also why in a laser for example the light doesn't radiate sideways? Shouldn't the new sources produce light in that direction?

Hey awesome explanation!! I am going to try to compare this Huygen's Principle of diffraction with Heisenberg's Uncertainty Principle, and would love an input. I have recently seen a video where a laser is pointed through a slit, and as the slit is made narrower - the light that is projected on the wall gets narrower as well - until a certain point - where it starts expanding on the sides. Now people have said this is due to the Heisenberg's Uncertainty principle, since you are making delta x smaller, delta momentum has to increase when the slit gets to a certain point. Others have said it has to do with diffraction. I was thinking it has to do with both?

If we consider the wave side of the story its Huygen, but if we consider the particle side its Heisenberg's Uncertainty Principle -- would this way of thinking be right?

Hi, Huygens principle seems to show that you achieve 180 degrees of diffraction, regardless of the gap size. This is not the case. Can you explain this to me?
