Carol Troyen, Kristin and Roger Servison Curator Emerita of American Paintings at the Museum of Fine Arts, Boston, is a Phi Beta Kappa graduate of Yale University, and also earned her Ph.D. from Yale.
While at the Museum, she helped organize many exhibitions, including Charles Sheeler, Paintings and Drawings; Awash in Color: Homer, Sargent, and the Great American Watercolor, John Singleton Copley in America; and John Singer Sargent.
Her exhibition of the works of Edward Hopper was seen at the Museum of Fine Arts, Boston, the National Gallery of Art, Washington, D.C., and the Art Institute of Chicago in 2007-2008. She has lectured at museums across the country, and has served as Acting Chief Curator at the Wadsworth Atheneum in Hardford.
She is now an independent scholar. Among her current projects are a catalogue essay for the Philadelphia Museum of Art's forthcoming American Still Life exhibition and an essay on Charles Sheeler's late work.
