I've seen these composters everywhere lately, but are they really sustainable? From what I can tell they require a lot of energy to process compost. Wouldn't it be more sustainable to be patient and wait for things to decompose naturally without the need for energy?

How in the world is an electric composter sustainable? The process of making it...what happens to it when it no longer works...🤦. Composting is sustainable. Electric composters are the opposite of sustainable.

idk about this particular one, but i keep seeing "electric composters" that just produce a ground up dried food scrap mush that's not compost? i guess it does compost faster than if you threw everything in a compost pile whole, but compost does need some moisture and you still need the mix of greens/browns and air so i get confused with the way things are marketed like you're making compost

Would recommend you guys watch Thunderf00t’s video debunking the Lomi and other electric composters. They’re great ways to INCREASE your carbon footprint, ironically. They use a ton of power to achieve almost nothing- it doesn’t reduce any of the methane gas from composition, and it doesn’t actually compost the material but rather just grinds it all up and dries it. When it rehydrates outside, it’ll release the gas again.

Totally agree, and when they're finished with it or it breaks, it'll become a hunk of plastic/metal which isn't going to naturally decompose.. ironic.

Sorry if this comes across in a negative manner, but I’ve watched the sorry girls from the beginning and it just seems like they have abandoned their channel. I mean I appreciate this little 15 and 38 second snippets, but honestly this could be any channel. Aside from that I could watch TikTok if this is what I wanted to see. I watch YouTube for content, not a quick show and tell. They can’t even manage to show up for one episode a week anymore. It’s so sad. After all of these years, YouTube is no more than an afterthought for the sorry girls.
