How far should you stop behind a car at a traffic light?

When you stop behind other cars at a traffic light, make sure you can still see the tyres of the front car, especially if the road is hilly.

Maintaining a safe distance between you and the front car when stopping temporarily on the road is a safety measure.

In the military we learnt to leave a car's length between us and the one in front of you. If something nasty approaches, with that distance you can still turn your wheel and get off.
