Wow. Way to flex on all of us mere mortals Eric. This video made me realize…. There’s a LUT more to learn 😉

Nice explanation, Eric. I've used the LUT creator in Color Finale for basic Log to Rec 709 conversion. Works somewhat simpler than what you've described. But it does cost $$.

Love to see you do some Color Finale vids. Understood if you don't, since it would be creating free tutorials for them.

Boom! Just tried this and it works! 😃 Now I have my lut loaded on blackmagic app as a preview. Loving it! Thanks very much!

Dang, that was really well explained and great to know!
For the example it would have been cool to see how it actually does look the same but learning the limitations is important too…
Great vid man!

Shows you exactly why a lot of LUTs online, don’t really explain how or what they are created for or from.

One quick stupid question: what is the widget top left on your screen?

And congratulations! It's the first time ever I see a desktop as clean as mine
😂

Today, I am using Cinema Grade and I think it's a great tool. Though, with what you're teaching me, I might create more looks on my own.

Thanks

Would love to use this software! Unfortunately my Mac says that the your software needs to be updated in order for it to open. Any tips on bypassing that? Thanks!

Great tip! I tried to export a Capture One style this way, but I'm not sure what to do with color spaces. The exported neutral file has no ICC profile, so it's interpreted as sRGB by default, but I can also pick 'neutral'. I can export as sRGB, generic RGB, or AdobeRGB. Any idea what would make the most sense for a videoLUT?

I'm trying to create a LUT in a wide gamut color space for rec 2020 HLG and It Never looks right, it works for rec 709 but not HDR. I'm looking to create an HDR LUT for 8K 12 Bit Raw and output as 8K Rec 2020 HLG export, any tips?

Edit: I may have found the issue, In FCP for the project where the HALD is in go to the inspector for the Color Space Override and set it to Rec 2020 HLG instead of OFF and I think that works.

Question. I tried downloading this last week. I am using Sonoma 14.0 and it will not allow me to open the file. I get the same “cannot check for malicious software” and it will not let me bypass.
How do I get past this wall?
