whenever comparing the greatness of different players, from different eras, one can’t compare their raw skill, because skill naturally increases as training gets better and the understanding of the game does too. Instead, one has to compare how great these players were in their respective eras, in relation to their respective players. So in this case, a layups like the ones shown here were much rarer and more difficult back then than they are now, even though they’re the same move. They hold more “value” 30 years ago than they do now.
