Lots of stuff in the world of space this week! From Starship, Falcon 9, Long March, Electron, SLS, and MORE, I could barely squeeze it all into a ~10 minute episode! We also saw some rather alarming footage of Pythom Space's hold-down engine test, and we welcomed the crew of China's first 6-month-long Space Station mission back to Earth.

Check out Everyday Astronaut's interview with Elon Musk!

The exhaust plume is the least dangerous thing in the Pythom video. The fuel is furfuryl alcohol and nitric acid (not red/white fuming). So you don't want to stand there but it's not UDMH/NO4. It's a pressure fed engine but they haven't figured out the pressure feed part so there was basically no chamber pressure, so an explosion was unlikely but possible.

All the physical violations are bad, OSHA fines start at the tens of thousands. And not having any hazardous materials markers on the vehicles carrying their fuel, I've seen trucks forfeited for that. Discarded tank sitting on the ground where people are working. The rocket bounced around during the test and was completely unsecured. And so on.

The founder's words are particularly damning. He says space is expensive because personnel are expensive, so he uses cheap personnel. And it shows, this looked like a group of amateur rocketry enthusiasts getting a bit carried away with themselves with more rocket than they can handle.

He also called out the explosion at Scales Composites in 2007, but that happened because people were next to an engine and not in the blast proof shelter 130 meters away behind a wall and an earthen berm. They skipped steps and made assumptions about safety and people died.

One thing exciting about the ShenZhou-13 recovery was that it was the first time that the capsule landed upright in 16 years (since Shenzhou-6). Considering the wind in the Mongolian Desert, the pilot of the ship certainly has done an amazing job in cutting the chute on time

Nevermind the smoke plume (which Pythom claims "wasn't toxic")... what if the thing explodes? Why the hell are people standing right next to it like it is a campfire???
Any shrapnel from that thing would've most likely killed them.

9:30 Its good to see that more companies are looking at reusability of rockets. The more we can do that, the lower our barriers to space become.

Wow.... Pythom makes early game Kerbal look safe. I suggest these guys invest in 100 hours minimum of Kerbal gameplay for their ground techs with the requirement that they must get rockets to land on the moon in RSS career mode (sandbox allows for to much mistake without the pain of failure).
Maybe they would understand a bit more about safely operating a rocket and how Delta-V works, ect...

Pythom’s answer is what I would expect from a 6 year old.
