As a HD employee specifically in lumber and building materials I will say this is a great video. I wish most people after watching a wood working video or starting a project would watch this video, instead of being dissapointed by me telling them we don't have cabinet grade mahogany 4x8s. Lol or black walnut veneer, HD carries basic construction supplies and trims not specialty products.

I found a local hardwood supplier. I went to get some ash and hard maple. When I got there I found out it was located at a nudist colony. Turns out the guy I bought from gives great value and I’m going back to the nudist colony for more wood.

I’ve found the employees at our local lumber yard tend to help by slipping the most damaged products they can find into an order. It’s hard shopping at these places when they couldn’t care less unless you’re a contractor.

Doing more of these beginners guides would be super helpful. Go through tool selection and how to safely use and maintain those tools would be good for people that are just getting into woodworking.

I have been doing little woodworking tasks for years but it was always just a utilitarian task. Get it done and move on. Recently I bought a CNC after getting in over my head with jobs to carve signs and mailbox posts. Your videos, including this one, always make me remember why I like woodworking. Great tips. I've never even thought to ask them to cut the checks or knots off the ends of the board. Makes so much sense and saves a few pennies.

I started working with wood a little over 2 years ago, when I moved into a new house. Our garage had no storage, and I wanted to have a workbench, along with cabinets for tool storage. After looking into pricing for the cabinets, I decided they were far too expensive for me, so I decided to build my own workbench and shelving that were customized to fit my tool chests in. All I used was construction grade lumber from the store you mentioned here, but after it was all complete, I fell in love with the fact that I made it from wood. I have made several other projects I got the plans for from YouTube, but they never would say where they got their wood from, so I always ended up with sh8tty wood from the H D Pot. This video has just blown my mind, and I really appreciate it. I just hope there is a good hardwood store near me. Consider me another subscriber, brother!
