Explaining JoJo's New Universe

Now that Steel Ball Run is getting animated I felt the need to provide a clear and straightforward explanation for what the Alternate Universe is, hopefully this helps.

I usually explain the whole parallel universe thing for JoJo’s as two apartment complexes that while sit next to each other and are built similarly, they’re still separate complexes

I think parallel multiverses explains it pretty damn well. The multiverses don't interact at all, but the references are still there and we can have fun with it. That diagram definitely helps lol

I think the word most people are looking for is "continuity". Part 7 is in a different continuity from the rest of the series.

I think another reason why Araki wrote part 7 in an alternate universe and not the Original Universe is because the story of the Joestar bloodline is already completed. There is no fate or evil that the Joestars in the original universe have to overcome and can just live out their days not fighting.

I appreciate you not being harsh on people confused by this like Part 6 ends on a universe reboot and Part 7 starts in another universe. I don't fault people for making those correlations (heaven knows I did). It didn't help that most Jojo parts didn't officially get translated until decades later so it's not that surprising misinformation is so frequent in this community, the best that we can do is just inform others.

I like how despite not being the same continuity, Part 6 ends with a universe reset and Part 7 is the start of one thus the internal flow of the series still works and does convey the separate continuities

I had a conversation with someone not too long ago that claimed that the original continuity was an alternative universe to the sbr universe, because of what valentine said, we tried to make them comprehend that they were wrong because they are different multiverses but they insisted until everyone but them loss interest and went away

I always interpreted them as being part of the same multiverse, just these are universes further appart that are very different due to a ton of compounding differences.

1:20 Araki will still have this problem of a future setting because part 9 is set in the 2020's it just took awhile since Part 7 is in the 1890s. He'd encounter this supposed issue no matter which universe it's set in if each part is set 20+ years apart. Jojo having "unrealistic" technology isn't unfitting lots of fiction does this, Batman Beyond handled the futuristic setting pretty well which is not reflective of modern reality. That's is if he will make a Part 10 at all, if he does I'd like to it going back to the original universe somehow.

It's so nice to see a youtuber who will talk about a topic and not stretch it out to 10 minutes for no reason. Anyone else would have had a 3+ minute preamble discussing what Jojo's is, the history behind it, and probably a synopsis of the whole story up until Part 6.
