How important is HDR when considering your next monitor purchase?

I got myself one of these monitors (Cooler Master Tempest GP27U) and and switched from an ultrawide 3440x1440p monitor as well. This Tempest GP27U is an 🤩😱🫠AMAZING MONITOR to game on, view HDR BluRay movies on, for photo editing (looking at tinkering into some video production work) and I’m stoked to get hold of one ….. which is the only issue atm! 🙈🤦‍♂🤦‍♀My monitor has the updated firmware and this an END GAME monitor for me (unless a super high refresh rate version of this monitor comes out in the future🥳🥰) This monitor is something to behold and witness in person as even thou I have a LG CX OLED owner … the Tempest GP27U definitely for me, competes very well against it for all my uses!!!

Screen resolution vs size is purely preference. It all depends on how far away you sit from your desk. Some VR has 4k mini led screens less than an inch from your eye but the degrees of vision it takes up is almost 100% so it looks good. Back to monitors 27 or 32 is fine for 4k but 27 is definitely not "too small" for 4k so don't let others opinions decide your choice

I appreciate Cooler Master for releasing firmware updates, But I don't really have a whole lot of confidence that it'll fix the issue completely. I feel like it's going to introduce more issues than it's going to fix, I hope I'm proven wrong and the flickering is fixed. I still think these issues should have been addressed before releasing it to the public.

Hello do you find weird thing like icons look like missing details when using local dimming in SDR ? I have tried the GP27Q and return it because in SDR with local dimming, a lot of part of the screen looked weird...

It seems to me some chip in the monitor is not fast enough to compute everything on time in all conditions - when both HDR and Adaptive Sync are enabled, and framerate varies etc. It seems like Cooler Master are trying to come up with an algorithm that can run fast enough and never drop the ball, but it's just not that easy. The solution might be to sacrifice something, like the preciseness or responsiveness of the local dimming algorithm, on order to make the whole thing run faster and have enough computational power for everything. Complete speculation on my side though!

This seems the most promising monitor to upgrade my non-HDR 1440p screen that I'm using now. That flickering issue has me worried, though; I obviously want to use both adaptive sync and HDR. Has this issue been fixed yet?

Seems like a brilliant option this - price point is a bit high for me, considering the smallish size. I love my OLED tv, but i have concerns with OLED monitors and burn it, considering a lot of things, like icons are static a lot on screen.

Can anyone post the settings you need to input, whilst in HDR mode, to get the best colour accuracy please :D
