Christian Cooper on being racially targeted while birdwatching in Central Park

Christian Cooper was birdwatching in New York’s Central Park when he encountered a woman whose dog was loose. He says he politely asked her to leash the animal, but she became agitated. As he filmed her reaction, the woman called police and told them: “There is an African American man. I am in Central Park. He is recording me and threatening me and my dog.” Cooper and his sister believe the woman was using Christian’s race to get the police to respond.

I hate when they refer to Emmet Till as a "black man" who whistled at a white woman. He was a child... a child

It's heartbreaking what he said about the small nerdy glasses, because it's true.

She was abusing her dog with that leash while on the phone with the cops. She should be arrested for animal abuse.

Karma struck. She lost her job and her dog that she unknowingly was choking during the whole video.

Sad that a black man has to put nerdy glasses to make himself look more innocent and nerdy so he doesn't seem intimidating to poor Americans around him, man it's a messed up world we live in.

I'm with Christian's sister on this one, I think that at 40 years old, Amy Cooper was well aware of the implications of what she did, in fact he went as far as to warn (threaten) him about what she was going to do before she did it. Better believe that there is no particular look that a racist has, it could be, and it was in this case, a harmless looking, little white woman walking her dog!

This was just on Newsmax. They read one of Cooper's social media posts, where he boasts about carrying dog treats to lure strangers' pets away if they're off-leash. That's NOT healthy behavior. Seriously - who does this?? He made threats about what he was going to do - and that she wouldn't like it. Then, he called her dog, "Here doggie doggie", and waved the dog treats. It was all she could do to hold onto her pet. No wonder she was terrified. The dog treats could've been laced with poison.

Exposing the Karen's of the World

The famous story where the word karen came from .... the beginning of the karen.
Karen is a term used as slang typically for a middle-class white woman who is perceived as entitled or demanding beyond the scope of what is normal.[1] The term is often portrayed in memes depicting middle-class white women who "use their white and class privilege to demand their own way".[1][2] Depictions include demanding to "speak to the manager", being racist, or wearing a particular bob cut hairstyle.[3] It was popularized in the aftermath of the Central Park birdwatching incident in 2020.[2]

The term has been considered pejorative by those who believe it is racist,  sexist,  ageist,  classist, and controlling women's behavior.[3] The term has occasionally been applied to male behavior.[3][4]

During 2020, the term increasingly appeared in media and social media, including during the COVID-19 pandemic and George Floyd protests.[1] The Guardian called 2020 "the year of Karen".[5]

If he's so educated why is he still trying to gain acceptance from ppl who hate him? Him saying that Amy Cooper has suffered enough is a slap in the face to all the people that have supported him. Literally she can & never will suffer enough. Her loss is only temporary. Losing a job is not suffering. She'll get another 1 (white privilege). Reputation. It seems she has plenty of supporters who actually feel like he was wrong for recording her. She is a white woman. Mr Cooper you are a black man. In the eyes of society you will always be the threat. No need to feel sorry for Amy. What she did was reckless & could've cost you ur life. I seriously doubt this would've caused her to lose any sleep. The mere thought that she made the call speaks volumes as to how she values your life. Wake up. Everyone who has or becomes a victim of this type of behavior doesn't always get an opportunity to have a voice after the fact. U do. Don't waste it. Cooperate w the DA. If she needs to be the example, so be it. Maybe the next white woman who thinks it's cute to call the cops & lie will think twice. FYI: Mr Cooper no matter how educated you are, you will never be their equal in their eyes. I'm sure this is why you are refusing to cooperate. Remember U are not 1 of them. U could've died that day just 4 being black...
