Another tip: If you want to do a boat ride and see the Statue of Liberty you can take the Staten Island Ferry which is free :)

I took a yellow cab from JFK to Time Square, the driver could tell that we were out of towners.
Our bill came to 62 dollars and i gave a 100 note and instead of giving me all the change she says how much i need back, this took by surprise and i said all of it.

I found your channel when my wife and I were in Manhattan a couple of weeks ago! Can't tell you how valuable your information and suggestions were! We not only saved money and saw a ton, but we put some serious miles on our shoes each day!

I love this guys videos. Unlike that cash Jordan dude who used to do great NYC videos but now does gloom and doom content and gaslights by photoshopping his thumbnails to make it look like things here are worse than it really is..

The subway isn’t that bad but it could be safer but you need to have head on swivel and not on the phone ..

I had a discussion with a restaurant manager about my dislike of waitstaff standing beside me while I select a tip amount on their electronic billing pad. I think tipping is personal and requires time to reflect on the service, not a time to feel rushed, with eyes looking over my shoulder. The manager agreed, saying that was not supposed to happen. He promised to speak to his staff to remind them not to do it but to leave the pad with the customer, then return later to collect it. It's hard to ask for privacy when it isn't a usual request but I'm learning.

Headed to NY solo in 9 days. Your videos are perfect. I’m so overwhelmed but super excited! Feel so un prepared with my ‘to do list’, at this point I’m going to wing it 😂

Jon thank you for being consistent with your YouTube videos. During the Memorial Day weekend I finally caught a show on Broadway and it was life changing.

Besides my feet, subways are the best. The rooftop bars for major hotels are pretty underrated too, and also usually not crowded. Hot dogs around Grand Central beware too - $10 variety. Also congrats on 500k.

Me and my family returned a week ago from seven day trip to NY. Thanks to your tips the journy was pleasant and not really expensive. We ordered one Broadway show a months ago, just to be sure we're having a good seats. Next day we saw a second show, but this time we bought tickets from the theater box office on the show day for $50. The seats were meh, as we expected, and half of the stage was blocked, but we could switch seats after break and enjoyed the rest. What was disappointing are food carts. The food was not inviting, and the most of all their generators are annoying. They mostly generate pollution as of the air as of the sound. The noise is unbearable. But the rest of the trip was pure fun. Thanks again

We did a Hop On, Hop Off bus when we visited 7 years ago because we found a "great" deal on Groupon. We enjoyed seeing parts of the city we hadn't yet walked too, but found even the discounted price wasn't worth it. We took a tour that included a pre-recorded audio description of the history of the buildings and significant landmarks we were seeing on the tour. However, the audio doesn't account for delays due to traffic and we ended up about 1-2 blocks behind what was being described on the audio. We also found that the traffic noise drowned out the audio. We ended up ditching the audio portion about halfway through and just enjoyed the sights. A better option is using Free Tours by Foot (a pay what you want tour group). We took 5 tours in four days with them and found them to be extremely informative and by far the best way to see the city. For some reason we were the only Americans on the majority of our tours, but we didn't mind.

Going to New York for 6 nights next month. Did get an attraction pass but for 6 attractions over the course of our atay. This should give us time to use it, whilst seeing less 'touristy' spots.

Ha! Used my comment! We watched a ton of your videos before our vacation and we found the subway pizza place and we also went to Beast & Butterflies as a part of the trip! The rooftop bar wasn't open to dine but you could still go out there to look around. Totally agree: the view from there is awesome (got some epic night time photos) and the desserts are pretty good. Our West Coast kids got a kick out of seeing where the ball drops. Thanks for all your videos - they're such a help in planning even if you've been to the city before.
Edited to add: our kids also really wanted to go to Katz's and thanks to your video on it, we knew to share sandwiches. They're huge!

I find it interesting that you recommend Canal St. For souvenir shopping. I generally avoid that area unless i am looking for knock-off purses. Back in the day, they would try to get people into vans to go to sketchy warehouses for counterfit goods. Not sure if that's still a thing.
