Some of the best blues guitar I've ever heard.

A couple years back, I took my son with me on a trip from North Georgia to Knoxville, Tennessee. He was 26. Just starting to get into guitar music, and away from rap and hip hop. He was just starting to show an interest in learning guitar. I asked him what he knew about ZZ Top. He knew about three songs.
I said, "We are going to listen to ZZ Top songs, exclusively, from here to Knoxville. And I guarantee you won't get bored or want to hear anything else. And pay attention to the guitar." When we got to our destination, he said I was right, and that Billy Gibbons was a monster.
Indeed.
He is, indeed.
And the guitar work in this song is ridiculous.

Jimi Hendrix heard Billy play for the first time and said hey man that’s the best guitar player I’ve ever seen. Obviously he took ZZ under his wing. Billy said in concert just before he played Hey Joe this comes from a guy who taught us everything about the music business and then some!

Brown Sugar should be re-released. What a kick-ass song! Thank you Texas for both ZZ Top and Stevie Ray.

The summer of '71 Scottsdale AZ. We were out on the Pima Indian reservation drinking beer and smoking joints, listening to Mexican radio coming out of Mexico (good atmospheric conditions happening that night), when a little bluesy tune came on. Nice guitar and a little catchy then ZZ Top showed up. Minds blown, Brown Sugar ZZ Top, hell yeah.

They played this last night at the Born and Raised festival in Oklahoma. Absolutely amazing!

This song is what made me buy a guitar in the first place. Although Rory Gallagher got me to take playing it seriously. Billy and this song was the reason I even picked it up and switched from Bass.

The most southern rockin' & bluesin' southern rock'n blues band !! This attribute has to be invented after rewardind The Black crowes (of course the most rock'n and rolling rock'n roll band !!). Love their stuff, farewell to Dusty (idol of my 17 year old son).

If you were around when ZZTOP first hit the radio.. I bet your still hooked on those nasty Rock blues they generated.. Seen them in concert several times. Drove limo for them in SLC Ut. Salt palace day's and The Delta center afterwards.. Dusty was a hoot and a great addition vocally to the band. Billy.. hands down.. pure straight up master guitarist.. Frank.. was the heartbeat that made the system work.

As a Texan who saw ZZTop in the early years, the desporado sound they created was what made them .

Just saw them play this last weekend. Amazing song I’ve heard only a couple times before.
