Watch again: Keir Starmer gives speech on immigration dependency at the CBI annual conference

Keir Starmer has said fixing public services will help the labour market in the second day of the CBI annual conference in Birmingham.

"You can't tell me that the number of older people falling out of work has got nothing to do with the millions stuck on NHS waiting lists or the growing number of people suffering with mental health isn't a drag on our productivity," Labour's leader said.

Mr Starmer then proceeded to claim that the common goal of politicians and business is to help the British economy "off its immigration dependency".

We have now had 2 cbi speeches one from prime minister sunak and one from Starmer but comparing these 2 speeches I noticed that Starmer does not have knowledge of economics brexit business etc. Me as a business owner I wouldn’t follow the speech from Starmer for here he was focusing on cheap but to be honest when you own a business like I do you are always expecting business growth all the time so you will be better off with prime minister Sunak’s cbi speech for the way he presented it is actually a win win for businesses especially. Let’s face it this way, you might do your account quarterly or annually etc and you always expect to gain profit than to loose profit, so if you are to do what Starmer says here you will end up paying more money out of your business and not profiting anything for some of us we do E-commerce and we import our orders from abroad and as a director of a company you need get shares percentage as well from your sales, with Starmer’s you will not profit from business at all.

Why is it the business of government to train people? If people want to improve their situation then get moving and go to night school or any of the hundreds of training schemes out there. Yes you might have to pay, you might have to miss eastenders a few nights a week but the benefit will be yours. The 52% that voted leave got what they wanted, now stfu about low wages and do the jobs you all said you wanted.

Yeah yeah yeah. Labour always say they are going to protect the most vulnerable then they get in and pay all the extra money to themselves. The poor get nothing. People who stay in the Labour party do so because they see it as a vehicle for their personal social aspirations. They have far more contempt for the needy than the Tories do.
