HRL History - North Tonawanda 2013

Les finales annulées à St-Félicien, les prochaines finales de la saison 2013 se déroulaient à North Tonawanda dans l’état de New York.

En classe 1.5 Litre, Michael Tremblay était au volant du Steeler en remplacement de Leanna Richards. Dès le départ, Tremblay s’est lancé en avant pour remporter la victoire sans jamais avoir été inquiété. Récent vainqueur à Valleyfield, Mike Grendell Jr. S’est contenté du 2e rang. Le frère de Michael Tremblay, Samuel, a récolté la troisième marche du podium.

Finale très relevée en 2.5 Litres. Sylvain Maheu semblait se diriger vers une victoire facile quand les fans ont remarqués qu’il semblait ralentir sur le parcours. Ce fût confirmé lorsque Donald Leduc l’a dépassé facilement pour remporter la victoire. Derrière lui, belle bagarre entre Dominic Maisonneuve, Steve Armstrong, Bobby King et Yan Lecompte. Derrière Leduc, Maisonneuve termine 2e et King 3e.

La finale Hydro350 a du être arrêté alors que Sylvain Dorais a fait un violent crochet, endommageant lourdement son embarcation. Au 2e départ, Norman Ensbury a prit un excellent départ et a laissé sa compétition derrière lui pour remporter une victoire facile. Ce fût une autre histoire pour ce qui est de la troisième position qui est devenu pour la deuxième quand Samuel Pagé-Morin a lui aussi effectué un violent crochet dans le dernier virage. Brandon Kennedy en a alors profité pour grimper au deuxième rang, suivi de Derec Smith qui complète le podium.

Beaucoup de confusion en finale Grand Prix. Les fans étaient fous de voir enfin les deux partenaires d’affaire Marc Théorêt et Ghislain Marcoux finalement côte à côte en course. Bien autant que le 101 que le 444 avait devancé le départ. De plus, une autre pénalité à Marcoux signifiait une disqualification. En plus de ces deux pilotes, Brandon Kennedy et Bert Henderson était eux aussi trop tôt à la ligne de départ. Tout comptes faits, c’est Patrick Haworth qui est déclaré vainqueur, suivi de Joe Sovie et Marc Théorêt qui malgré tout monte sur le podium.

With the finals having been canceled in St-Félicien, the next finals for the 2013 season were in North Tonawanda, New York.

In the 1.5 Litre class, Michael Tremblay was at the wheel of the Steeler replacing Leanna Richards. Tremblay broke away at the start and his victory was never in doubt. The recent winner at Valleyfield, Mike Grendell Jr. settled for second place. Michael Tremblay's brother, Samuel, took third spot on the podium.

There was a top notch field for the 2.5 Litre final. Sylvain Maheu looked like he was heading for an easy win when fans noticed he was slowing down. This was confirmed when Donald Leduc passed him to claim the victory. A tough fight was shaping up among Dominic Maisonneuve, Steve Armstrong, Bobby King and Yan Lecompte. Behind Leduc, Maisonneuve finished second and King third.

The Hydro 350 final had to be stopped after Sylvain Dorais made a violent hook, heavily damaging his boat. At the second start, Norman Ensbury got off well and left his competition behind for a convincing victory. The race for third position became for second spot when Samuel Pagé-Morin also made a violent hook in the last corner. Brandon Kennedy took the opportunity to climb to second place, followed by Derec Smith who completed the podium.

Lots of confusion in the Grand Prix final. The fans were wild with anticipation to finally see the two business partners Marc Théorêt and Ghislain Marcoux side-by-side. But, both the 101 and the 444 jumped the start. Thus, another penalty to Marcoux meant a disqualification for him. In addition to these two, Brandon Kennedy and Bert Henderson were also early at the start line. When all the penalties were assessed; it was Patrick Haworth who was declared the winner. He was followed by Joe Sovie and Marc Théorêt who despite everything climbed onto the podium.
