nana to me feels like a show about two women who are lonely and want to be loved but dont have enough self worth to date guys “good” for them and to be “good” for themselves. so to fill the loneliness, they develop romantic feelings for each other (both nanas) but they cant commit to being lovers because they know theyll never be enough for each other and theyll inevitably break up and leave each other. both nanas found safety in each other arms because they provided each other the love they craved and couldnt get from the men they were dating (ren, nobu, takami). nana seems like a cautionary tale of what happens when you are lonely and want to be loved whilst doing nothing to heal the loneliness within through self love. it depicts a tragic story of what happens when you dont break the cycle and rely on other people to be your savior rather than yourself.
