This is a Motormouth couple car comparison of the new Lexus RX35oh versus the new Lexus NX350h hybrid SUVs.
Two Lexus Hybrids battle it out in our comparison this week. NX 350h vs. RX 350h, which one would you choose? The Lexus NX and RX hybrids have the same powertrain, a 2.5L 4-cylinder with Lexus hybrid drive matched to an ECVT with a combined 240 horsepower for the NX and 246 horsepower for the RX, standard AWD. The Lexus RX hybrid can go further on a full tank of gas, it gets about 996 km/619 miles to every fill, the NX 911 km/566 miles. The Lexus NX gets a little better fuel economy at 5.7L/100 km, 41 MPG city and 6.4L/100 km, 37 MPG highway. The RX 6.3L/100 km, 37 MPG city and 6.8L/100 km, 34 MPG highway. The Lexus RX is 9” longer and just over 2” wider than the NX but it doesn’t offer a lot more passenger space. They have the same front row legroom, but the RX has a little more second row legroom, just over an inch more. The RX offers more cargo space behind the second row at 29.6 cubic feet, the NX 22.7 cubic feet. Overall cargo space is about the same in both the NX 46.9 cubic feet and RX 46.2 cubic feet.
The Lexus NX starts at $53,725 CAD/$43,805 USD and the Lexus RX $63,425 CAD/$50,150 USD that’s an extra $9,700 CAD/$6,345 USD for the RX. Both the Lexus RX and Lexus NX come with similar standard features, a 7” multi-information display, a 9.8” touchscreen, available 14”, wireless Apple Carplay and Android Auto, Nuluxe heated front seats, a heated steering wheel and a power driver’s seat.
The Lexus RX gets a few more standard features including, driver seat memory, a power rear door, ventilated front seats and a moonroof. In the US, the heated steering wheel is not a standard feature on RX and NX models. There is one feature the RX offers which the NX doesn’t, ventilated rear seats. Top trim to top trim, the Lexus RX will cost you an extra $9,650 CAD/$6,895 USD with similar features except the RX does have ventilated rear seats and a 21-speaker Mark Levinson sound system vs. 17-speakers in the NX. Is it worth the extra $$$?

Love your videos. We have leased five RX350's and three NX's. We currently drive a 2021 RX350. There is a difference between the two. The RX is a larger car. It has wider seats, and a quieter smoother ride for longer drives. The NX seats are smaller and is not as comfortable on the long drives. Yes, the NX are cheaper. We use the NX for short trips around town. Anything over a 100 miles we used the RX350. We both are retired and now only need one car....we're keeping the RX. Thanks again for your excellent informative videos and Sunday answer streams.

I now own the 2022 NX 350h and my wife and I are very happy with our decision. We traded our 2020 UX 250 h for this Lexus and don't regret it. We agree with your statement that the NX 350h is the smarter choice. We are a Lexus family in that our 2012 RX 350 is still going strong beside our 2022 NX 350h.

We put an order in for an NX a few months ago! We went through a similar conversation to what you two did, and ultimately felt the value from the NX was far greater - especially at the executive trim vs the equivalent price in the RX.

Great review from a brand new NX350H owner with 750 kms on it. Opted for ultra Luxury trim. The triple beam LED headlights are absolutely amazing. The only options I didn’t think I’d need was the HUD display, heated rear seats nor the Mark Levinson sound system. My only quibble is the driver’s seat. All the reviews rave how good they are however I wish they had about 4 additional inches of rear travel. Great review. New subscriber

Nice comparison! I'm on team NX too. What's more interesting is when you take the starting price of RX into comparison, for the same money you can have NX plug-in hybrid which has more power and a pure EV drive mode. Now the story of availability is a deal breaker for some but if you're not in a hurry, might as well get the NX 450h+ and you could even get rebate!

When it comes to hybrid, nothing else builds like a Toyota and Lexus. That's exactly how these 2 have stood for, in their respective luxury segments. Although original NX had missed the marks, the new generation really have turned things around. It finally worthy of the Lexus emblem. However, if I have to choose. RX would be more my liking. Not only its the "original" compact luxury SUV, its overall packaging is more worthy of the Lexus emblem.

I got the 22 NX350h with the Premium package with 14 inch screen as included option in tye US. Has 18 inch wheels. Bought regular Michelin tires after 14000 miles. Prefer the smaller size. Very happy with my NX

Great comparison, guys! I have owned a 2022 NX450h+ equipped with all the toys since last June. Coming off a 2017 RX350, I was looking for something a bit smaller, quicker, and nimbler. The 2nd gen NX fills the bill. I do a lot of local driving and the pure EV mode is slick and made efficient by the nightly recharge. The new NX450h+ is a well-sorted out vehicle. Build quantity is excellent with zero problems to date. I was aware of the new RX at the time of my purchase, and I thought that the NX better suited my circumstances and would have better mpg. A personal judgment, but I feel that the NX is the more handsome car. The nose on the new RX strikes me as a bit clumsy. I qualified for the full US tax credit which effectively reduced the real purchase price. So, 1 vote for NX!

The NX was the best-selling Lexus model in Europe and Russia. It might do really well in North America too

Team RX350h for me. We have one on order. I’m 6”1 and find the NX just to tight for long trips. Great videos !

I have owned six RX 350s and I’m currently driving an RX 450 HF sport. I am very familiar with both cars the NX and the RX. the NX is a more sporty car however the storage rollup /space comparison you provided doesn’t make sense. The RX is quoted as having 7 ft.³ more space in the rear and yet they both end up with the same amount of quoted total space. And I know the rear seat of the RX is bigger than the NX so the statistics you were given are off. I love your car reviews. Keep up the great work!

I bought the NX450h+ f sports. The reason is that we already have a Mercedes GLS 450 and a GMC truck. I don’t need a heavy vehicle or a seven seater again. NX is just for me to go to work within 15 miles one way three times a day and every now and then pick up kids (only two kids in school now) from the school. It suits me better with longer e-range. Almost identical to RX450h+ bar rear seat ventilation and Mark Levinson, which I can live without and gain easy drivability (other than my 17 years old, no one is 6 ft in my family)😂😅

Just placed my order on an NX 350h Luxury trim that should be here in about 1 month. Can't wait 😁

NX for the win for me too. It makes more sense especially coming from a current Rav4 Hybrid owner myself.

I’m surprised the video didn’t touch on, in my opinion, the key difference between the RX and NX which is; for taller drivers and passengers these two models are apples and oranges.

I’m 6’3” and my teenager is almost there and after test driving both the 2023 RX and NX the debate between the two was over, I ended up ordering the RX.

The NX felt tight, almost claustrophobic in comparison. Our shoulders and elbows were close to each other’s and even getting in and out was cumbersome.

My wife, who’s much shorter, even commented how roomy the RX felt compared to the NX.

This was the most helpful thing I have seen on comparing these two

After ordering the NX350H last summer I recently found out I won't be getting a 23 model 😂 but a 24.
Cars you " can't buy".

After trying both the 2023 NX350h and 2023 RX350h, I went with the RX.

The new platform made the 2023 RX much more fun to drive than 2022 RX. Better handling and suspension. Less body roll and that boat feeling.

The 2023 RX looks good only in darker color to hide that grill transition. We got it in Nori Green and it's a head turner.

The RX is a family car, so if you have young kids with car seats, go for the RX. The NX is barely bigger than my 2009 IS250. Also, like many families, we shop at Costco and the trunk space in the NX feels underwhelming. The RX trunk space is acceptable.

RX has regular tires which is affordable, less noisy, less chance to puncture because they are thicker. And even if you puncture them, you can repair it unlike the runflat.

RX is quieter than the NX as per decibel meter on other YouTube reviewers videos.

RX ftw!!

Great review. Would like to see a comparison video with the Acura MDX Platinum and the RX 350 Executive Package.
