The Shadows 4th solo release but the first to reach the charts and their first #1'.
Written by Jerry Lordan it was originally recorded by Bert Weedon, Lordan wasn't impressed and gave it to The Shadows. It also reached #1 in Ireland, New Zealand and South Africa.
In the UK 'Apache' replaced by Cliff Richard and The Shadows 'Please Don't Tease' at #1, the first instance of an artist replacing themselves at the top of the chart.
Danish Guitarist Jørgen Ingmann recorded a cover which reached #2 in the US and #1 in Canada in 1961.

Excellent old classic that only reminds one how old one is getting....What was it...six hundred years ago now since this age of innocence?...

Great disc and wonderful to own on 78. The sound is much more spacious, there is air behind the guitar it doesn't normally sound like this, very expanded. Lovely

Another fantastic record. It was the age of the twangy guitar and I see in 1992 Duane Eddy was gust star on Hank Marvins album. Must wee what happened to Duane.

Good one Al. Nice condition too. I've got one of theirs on 78 - without checking I think it's 'FBI'.
