Glad to know it's just a matter of technique and not a reed or mechanical issue. It's been happening to me precisely when coming back down from altissimo. Very helpful video.

I feel so seen! This helped me target the cause of an issue I've been having but wasn't able to explain.

Very good tip, thank you. And you are totally right; G5 can be atrocious on a tenor. Any player should practice scales, 10 minutes every day, to force body to remember the embouchure for each note.

It's frustrating and happens with me sometimes in G high. Thanks so much!

This is exactly the advice i was looking for! I'm already watching your videos since a few weeks and now got an alto sax for christmas. I'm playing on a Rico Reed strength 2 and my biggest problem ist the splitting of the low notes. I can play the low d easily when i start playin higher notes and then go down to d or even c. But when i start breathing and try to play a low d as my first note i usually split. Really annoying but, well, it's my second day on the sax ^^ I also tried a strength 2 Vandoren Reed and while i think the tone is much better i get way too much squeaking and splitting also on the high notes because the reed seems stronger than the Rico. I guess i just habe to let my embouchure get stronger!

Funny i have the same problem with the exact same notes but.. on tenor sax! Is the reason why it's happening the same in both alto and tenor sax? (Sorry if the question seems stupid to you i'm a beginner :p )
