Ozark | Del Spares Marty | S1E1

Показать описание

The Byrdes and their teenage kids, Charlotte and Jonah, are, for all intents and purposes, an ordinary family with ordinary lives. Except for the job of Marty, a Chicago financial advisor who also serves as the top money launderer for the second largest drug cartel in Mexico. When things go awry, Marty must uproot his family from the skyscrapers of Chicago and relocate to the lazy lake region of the Missouri Ozarks.

Marty reminds me so much of Saul Goodman. Just being able to talk his way out of anything. His voice is his weapon.

Del definitely admires how Marty just casually stood up after facing death

I like how Del knows the pitch is probably bullshit, but it's intriguing just enough for him to spare Marty.

Ozark episode 1 may be one of the best pilot episodes of all time. It's substantially better than many movies I've seen. All three seasons of this show are excellent - particularly the third.

The way Del just Casually telling Marty "I Gotta Go" while the man is literally making a saving grace to save his and is family's life is low key Hysterical

I like coming back to this scene for 2 reasons:
1) Shows how the main characters ended up in Ozarks in the first place.
2) Shows just how sharp and quick witted Marty is when under immense pressure. His survival mentality and instincts help him achieve his goals time and time again throughout the series. This was the first time we see it in action.

We never saw Marty this emotional again. Its pure survival in adapting to a wolfs game, and both him, wendy and the kids grew teflon skin over time, becoming numb to all the death, and loss of humanity.

Del didn’t want to kill him, he was looking for a reason to spare him. That’s why he hesitated and took his time.

Love how Del listened to him up until he began repeating himself.

This scene really sold me on the show. I've never seen Jason Bateman in anything memorable, but seeing this episode kept me at the edge of my seat. His acting abilities are so amazing, along with all of the cast of Ozark- all so geniune and real feeling characters. I had like a heartattack when Del put him back on the ground after listening to his speech and I can't remember any show (maybe aside from Breaking Bad) that can induce such anxiety. This show is definitely golden for sure.

I really want marty’s skills to negotiate his way literally out of every tight situation in this show. He never takes no for an answer it’s fascinating.

The actor who played Del should’ve played Navarro...

Terrific acting by person that plays Del. He even acts with his eyes without saying a word. Watch his eyes as he's mulling over Marty's plan and he eyes tell it all.

I used to pull the same kind of desperate gems out of thin air when convincing my parents I shouldn’t be grounded lol.

This scene makes a LOT more sense when you see the flashback episode. Del held Marty in very high regards and knew how important of an asset Marty was. Also from day one Del told Marty leave Bruce out but Marty insisted they bring Bruce onboard.

Del always had respect for Marty. Also knew that no one could wash money like him. Not sure if this was a test or more like Marty using his wits. Maybe both - but damnit I love this show ❤️

This guy can talk his way out of any/every situation. Like a verbal McGuyver.

Jason Bateman is one of the most talented versatile actors.

Bateman definitely deserves at least a couple of Emmys for his performances on this show. They’re epic.
