Japan- Honey Brick Toast Recipe

Part 10 of 26 of our "Around the World" series, "J" for Japan. Honey Brick toast is a well known Japanese dessert. The name tells you everything you need to know. This dessert is hollowed out white bread that has been toasted and coated with honey. The toast is then stuffed with ice cream and other treats.

Recipe:

1 loaf of plain white bread
4 tablespoons butter
1/4 cup sugar
1 teaspoon vanilla extract
Honey
As much candy and icecream as you want.

Directions:

Cut the loaf of bread in half.

Cut the middle section out leaving 3/4 of an inch on each side.

Cut the removed piece of bread into 1 inch cubes.

Mix the melted butter, sugar, and vanilla together. Coat the inside of the bread with the mix as well as the cubes.

Bake at 350 degrees for 10-12 mins or until lightly golden.

Once removed from the oven, drizzle the toast and cubes with honey.

Fill the toast with whatever you want.
