Welcome to today's video where you saw the repair of a Rococo dining chair.
Rococo is an artistic style that represented the further development of the Baroque from approximately 1720 to roughly the 1880s.
This artistic style is sometimes called late baroque.
The basis of every piece of furniture is wood, the surface of which was wavy, asymmetrical and with slender and curved legs.
The demand for the subtlety of the construction forced craftsmen to increase the precision of hand machining, which was necessary due to the minimization of the dimensions of the pin joints. Despite all the perfection of the craftsmen, Rococo furniture did not belong to very solid furniture and only suited the social style of salons.
In addition to the basic types of furniture for salons, a number of different sofas, chaise longues and armchairs have been developed.
This piece of furniture had the back pulled down and the back bent.
The elbow joint did not bend in the front legs, but in the hind leg.
This construction of shortened elbow pads was forced by the seating of ladies in wide skirts with reinforced hoops.
Upholstery fabrics were damask, satin and silk with floral patterns that followed the decor and colors of the room.
