nice and simple. One additional tip: instead of animating on timeline, just write "#frame/500" in the noise node, W field. Adjust number 500 for different speed.

Great setup and nice tutorial. I found that setting the noise to 4D affects performance and does not give the required result when combining the shader with a deformed surface. Played around a bit to optimize the performance. What I ended-up with is:

1. set the noise texture to 3D
2. Place a Separate XYZ and a Combine XYZ node between the texture coordinate and the noise texture input
3. In the combine XYZ, set Z to #frame/5000 as mentioned by @Front2007 below.

Also both noise textures can use the same texture-coordinate input.
And the mix node can be before the bump node

Would be nice if I could paste a picture here in the comments.... Will see if I can upload my final blender file somewhere and line to that

great video but you can give more details to water by increasing the mettalic and change opaque to alpha blend in material properties

When I click 'i' (3:24) it doesn't add a keyframe. The W changes colour like in the video though. How do I fix this?

nice! how would I render this? The silver water shows up in Viewport:MaterialPreview but not Rendered mode; it shows up only the blue plane. My 2013 computer isn't happy with 2 noise textures, but I think it's probably a setting somewhere, not just it being slow.

For this to work should there be geometry for the plane ? Mine doesn’t seem so obvious when I set up the nodes..
