Lovett has that rare quality of being quick, sharp witted, cutting, and irreverent while still being calm and quiet and not overtaking and dominating the conversation. (Think of Don Rickles, Robin Williams, etc who end up getting on a roll and and the entire interview (even if their primary interview has concluded and are now on the "couch" as another guest is being interviewed) is focussed around them.
