I worked as a paramedic for U2 in the early 90's. Each venue was a week of setup, a few shows and then a week of teardown. They had multiple stage setups that would leapfrog around the world allowing the band to jump from show to show without any downtime. Each show was live and unique. They also had the best crew food of any of the bands I worked for, including The Rolling Stones. Great group of people. Fun times.

I worked security right behind the stage two nights in a row in the early 90's. Larry Mullins had to drum to a click track for certain songs so that they could get the lights, videos and visual effects on cue. They had a computer tech guy and many computers under the stage to synch everything, but all the music was played by the musicians and they didn't play it exactly the same way two nights in a row. They're very talented guys. I had the chance to meet them while I was there and they were very classy and humble.

Way back in 1987 I worked security for U2 when they were playing in the Netherlands. I was not a big fan, but boy, hearing them play live (2 nights in a row) sure made an impression. Fantastic live band.

I'm not a U2 fan by any stretch, but I'm SO glad to hear that someone out there is earning their money honestly. Maybe I should START being a fan!

U2 never was any favourite of mine but really: Live is live and this lift them up above

This is why U2 are renowned for their live shows. There’s something different about a U2 show, the vibe, the emotion.

It's great you're showing legit performances.

I'm 35. I'm a music professional. I've seen U2 for How to Dismantle and for Joshua Tree recently... They are such a killer band. Not even my typical genre, but good is good, my friends.

Good to know that after all these decades U2 still believes in the power of music, the truth of music. I saw them at a free concert put on by my University’s Student Union, their first tour of the USA. They ROCKED! So I paid $5 the next night and saw them at a small club in San Francisco, and it was indeed a totally different show and just as powerful. It was electric. They had pride and talent, and it’s good to see that they still do.

I almost had a heart attack when I saw the title. There are few experiences like a U2 show. True artists responding to their audience.

As someone who gets tired of the "U2 are rubbish" brigade, I'm happy to see this video. I'm not a huge fan myself but they are clearly a great band and one of the best live acts around.

I was a huge fan of the Boy album and used to play it endlessly on cassette in my ‘78 Datsun. I even saw them play at a medium sized club in Tampa with The Alarm opening. Great show!

One day I was listening to the radio and “Sunday Bloody Sunday” came on the air. I’d never heard the song before because it had just been released, but I knew Bonos’ voice and the Edges’ guitar playing and I was so baffled I inserted the cassette of the Boy album, then ejected it to hear the radio again.

I was absolutely overjoyed to hear my favorite unknown band getting radio air play. It was a surreal experience. After that U2 was filling stadiums. 👍

I pretty much knew U2 was a real rock band, playing old school live songs.
Very happy you confirm 😊

Fil? I was @ the Red Rocks performance that became the Music Video... A bandmate dragged me to the show (I hadn't followed U2 prior...) and I left the concert as a lifelong fan.... Fire performance...

This makes my day! I love U2 and couldn’t imagine Bono being anything but live and completely genuine!

I have just breathe a sigh of relief ha! To be honest, I wouldn't have expected anything less than a genuine performance form the mighty U2. I have seen them twice at the Rose Bowl in Pasadena and in different parts of the world and never have I had any reason to think that they weren't performing what they do live, but it's really comforting to have an expert like your good self Phil confirm that. Many thanks.

Nice to see the graphs of two truly independent live performances. And I'm glad you pointed out the click track helping to keep the tempo steady, but otherwise having no impact on the "liveness" of the performance. Thanks Fil.

Fil, thank you! I got a little worried then I got emotional that one of my top favorite bands, is doing it properly. ❤
