Ever wonder why there is so much evil in the world if God is so great?! Why does the all-powerful God allow evil in the world? Why does God give us free will?

This is still an area that I believe I have much to learn, but when recently reading Mere Christianity by C.S. Lewis I have sort of an "ah-ha" moment about why God gives us free will. God has chosen to give people free will because that gives us the ability to truly love him. Imagine if God had not given the world free will but instead forced everyone to be good and love him? That would not actually be real love, we would basically just all be robots.

God gives us free will so that we can choose to love him. Unfortunately, it also allows people to be evil and for bad things to happen. God was willing to allow evil to exist, however, because he wanted us to have the ability to choose Him. So while God's free will allows evil to exist, it's that same free will that allows so much greatness and love between us and God to exist!
