I am definitely glad I watched this and not wasted several hours of my life watching the last season. I always appreciate channels that save me so much time. Time to go rewatch something I’ve probably watched 100 times already before. 😂

The Jennifer Incident has been hinted at for seasons. In season 3, you can see drawings of a woman all over Sparrow Ben’s bedroom with the name Jennifer written on them. In the original timeline from season one, Ben’s ghost practically lived alongside Klaus following his death. With that being the case, how in the world did Ben NEVER discuss his father MURDERING him with Klaus?! Especially when all the siblings return to mourn and discuss how awful their childhood was and how the family fell apart after Ben’s death! I cannot believe that ghost Ben never mentioned this to Klaus in all their years together. It makes no sense at all and turns Ben into the most important character in the entire story even though he was never really hinted as being more important than the rest of his siblings.

The final season felt like a completely different show! The unnecessary time jump erased tons of narrative tension I was hoping to see addressed after the season 3 finale. What were the “terms” of Allison’s deal with Reginald and what exactly did she do when she stole the controls to reset the universe? How did she lose her fame and her relationship with Ray after literally moving heaven and earth to have him reinserted into her life and timeline? Did he know he wasn’t Claire’s biological father? When did Allison and Klaus become so close as siblings? Allison’s MAJOR betrayal of her family in season 3 is so glossed over that it was hard to ignore and she never earned her redemption. Diego and Lila joined in to save the universe to be a family, but then they are ruined by living a suburban lifestyle that they’ve always wanted?! Klaus went from being clean and in control of his powers to being a whiny mess who immediately began using drugs again for no real reason! He was Ben’s biggest supporter and advocate for three seasons and then he is paired with Allison and Claire while Luther is somehow the closest person to Ben in season 4.

The manner in which they pretty much erased Sloane from the story was jarring and made it difficult to like Luther or care about his current situation. Sloane was used to help reset the universe, was Sparrow Ben’s only remaining sibling, Luther’s WIFE, and more of a member of the family than Lila was at that point in the story, but she get two small references and we learn absolutely nothing about how Luther handled her loss or why she could not be present in the new timeline.

The Five and Lila romance is such a mess and completely unnecessary for a final shortened season that needed the time to wrap up three seasons of complicated time traveling storylines. The new powers made no sense, and if Jennifer having the anti marigold particles in her body in the previous timeline, why did Reginald not delete her when he rest the universe? Why present this new world order run by Reginald just shown as ominous at the end of the previous season but is not addressed in season 4. And Abigail Hargreaves is a let down after seasons of buildup. Her husband reshaped the universe to bring her back to life and she does nothing! She feels no remorse or guilt for what her husband did to these people and the universe in her name and to give her a second chance. Victor can suck the marigold out of others and Abigail created the marigold particles, so why were these things not options to solving the problem? The absence of the commission and the separation of the characters for most of the season made it feel small in scope and boring to watch as they engaged in stupid behaviors like Klaus’ entire storyline and Luther and Diego’s stint at the CIA!

I adored this show and loved how fun it was but this last season felt very disjointed and completely different from the first three seasons.

The last season had two big mistakes: 1) This weird shit with five and lila (they would have been absolutely *fine* without the romance) and 2) that it was only 6 Episodes. Ofc a lot mor has irked me, but i just felt like it was so fast and there was so much more potential to show the different relationships

Also: what powers does the last special child have. 16 children were born. We've seen the OG 7, Lila, 6 more in season 3 and this fire dude now

I’m disappointed, I’ll admit.
- Luther mentions Sloane maybe twice. He isn’t shown looking for her or mourning - just his usual, cheerful self.
- Why couldn’t Viktor just take everyone’s marigold and sacrifice himself? Then only one person has to die instead of everyone. Or Five could’ve gone back in time and stop Ben from ever giving everyone else the marigold, that way the cleanse never would’ve even happened.
- So….Diego and Five just die hating each other? With no resolution whatsoever to the love triangle?
- Has Klaus just forgotten three seasons of character development or something?
- Why did Ray leave? Did the actor just not want to come back for another season?
- Weren’t there supposed to be two versions of Ben in that timeline? Why tease it, then not use it?
- Also, way to totally waste Ben all season
- According to the final shot, there’s still marigold in the world somehow anyway, so in theory, it’ll just start again? Either that, or it’s symbolic, which imo is naff.
- so if Claire and the other kids still exist, but Alison, Diego, and Lila never existed, then how does that not create a paradox?
- 6 episodes? Seriously??

I thought that the series got litlle too random in s3 so I was really sceptic about s4 and I was right...A LOT didnt really add up...people dissapearing without an explanations or affect to the main characters, whole plot lines being abandoned and unfinished, what happaned to the commission, whats up with the additional superpowers and the random romance between five and layla was just a cherry on top of the absolute chaos. Honestly I think noone really knew how the series would end so they just made stuff up on the go but that just doesnt work for a series which is build on time travel and alternative timelines :/ also this might be just me missing it in the last season but did they explain what happaned to reggies wife who invented the marigold in the og timeline?

Im so glad I never finished this show with how terrible the ending looked. Ive only seen the first 2 seasons which were pretty decent but the final of the whole show looks so disappointing. Thank you for this recap so I didn’t waste my time watching it properly.

Can someone explain this seeming plot hole…?

When they reset everything after season 3 nobody had powers because they no longer had marigold in their systems… so if Ben had not tricked them into drinking the marigold then none of this would have happened…? Right?

If that is not the case, and their mere existence was enough to splinter the timelines, then why at the end didn’t all 43 of the babies that spontaneously were born as a result of the marigold being released need to be there to fix everything?
