Earlier today I ignored this video in my feed thinking that i had heaps of materials, i do all the basic loot everything i see.
Just hit level 81 and went to upgrade my gear. Annnndd ran out of metal...

Thanks for the tips, I was dismantling bows.
By far the fastest way to get wood, i think you did mention, is ships. If you can get a mercenary on a ship, you get his gear and TONS more money and wood. Those ships have a beige sail, a silver raming? cover, and the mercenary icon. I love this game being aware of the history in this time era. Its a great game ImO..

Very informative video. I've actually been stuck in total bored grinding mode for the last year (because of the boredom, not logging in to work much anymore). The side quests are too repetitive and the upgrades are too expensive. Been having the hardest time, because of the boredom, getting enough drachme. I can get resources more easily by just looting everything I see and kill, and making sure to get all rocks from caves and stuff. I upgrade gear every 10 levels and it takes more than that to get the money for those upgrades, and I'm trying to finish upgrading my ship because I need that edge with ship combat (which I've never liked). I only dismantle gear when I'm too far from a blacksmith to sell it and need the space, then I go gear before weapons with bows last. The money's the hardest. When you need hundreds of thousands of drachme and you're looting like 15 or less from bodies and bags and stuff, it takes forever. I know the side quests pay a few thousand each, but they're so boring I even find myself falling asleep doing them. I really don't like this change they made to the game play. It's too grindy without enough variety. It's the first AC game I've actually gotten bored playing.
