My first introduction to Corey Taylor was with his acoustic cover of "Snuff", and I absolutely loved his voice. Since then, I've heard two Slipknot songs and some of his solo songs, and I find his voice just so intriguing. But from what I hear, this song put Slipknot on the grammy map, and that has piqued my interest so much, I just had to see why!

Join professional opera singer Elizabeth Zharoff, as she listens to Slipknot performing "Before I Forget" for the first time.

This video was ICONIC when it debuted! At that time, nobody had seen them without masks, and seeing the masks just hanging... we were all trying to rewind, pause, and catch glimpses of their faces!

Vermillion and vermillion pt. 2 are songs that give a really good show of the different varieties in Corey's voice

I know this is mostly focusing on vocals but Joey Jordison on the drums killed it! Amazing drummer. RIP

Corey really has some incredible range. He's absolutely one of the best when it comes to harsh, extreme vocals, his screams are top notch. But when he sings clean, god is it beautiful. Some other good songs featuring his vocals are Through Glass, Mission Statement, and Say You'll Haunt Me by Stone Sour, and The Devil In I, Dead Memories, and Sulfur by Slipknot.

I love your general enthusiasm for music. I've been a drummer for over 40 years and your energy is truly inspiring. Thank you!

We are turning Elizabeth into a Metal Girl, one metal band at a time. She soon will be ours. Bwahahaha

This is one of those songs I will never skip, always turn up, and scream with everything I have in me.

His vocals on this album were a bit different because he blew them out during the Iowa tour. This album was the start of him really having to learn how to properly sing and experimenting with different screaming styles.

I just want to say, Elizabeth, your channel has truly reignited the fire inside to pursue my music again. I’ve been feeling so defeated and depressed for the last couple years over the lack of response from the original work I’ve speant YEARS of my life trying to achieve. I was writing and producing EVERYTHING on my own spending countless nights after my 9-5 just tirelessly trying my hardest to put my heart on paper and then producing that fire. But became overwhelmed with all the work that I started losing my love for music. A terrifying reality because music has been pretty much my entire life. Watching your videos has really inspired me to try again and try harder. Because you’ve reminded me of all the things I’ve been trained as far as vocals go. I’ve been learning NEW things from you to improve even and now I KNOW I can accomplish my dream. I’m getting back to work for what will be my 3rd independent album and it’s going to be my best work BY FAR I can promise you that. Thank you Elizabeth you’re so so amazing! If there’s ANYWAY I can share it with you when that day comes I’d be happy to, I’m not asking for anything or anything like that I just want to share my story with you since you’ve been sharing yours with us! Thank you again 🤘🏼

One of the things I love about watching your videos is I get to go back and listen to some of my favorite songs that I maybe haven't given enough attention lately or kind of forgot how good they are, and I get to listen to it with different context. Whether it be your singing explanations or your genuine reactions to these songs and watching your developing fandom with Metal, it makes me appreciate these songs again, so thank you, so much.

Corey Taylor is an absolute legend. I highly recommend listening to the live version of Bother by Stone Sour, which is his other band. His clean vocal ability is amazing

Corey’s vocals on “From Can to Can’t” from Sound City:Reel to Reel show a great transition in style as the song progresses.

Corey has an amazing vocal range, sometimes in Slipknow we don't get to hear enough of it, but in Stone Sour and his solo stuff you can really hear cover of "Wild Horses" by The Rolling Stones is superb

Dont get me wrong, I love your analysis of all of these metal songs that I have loved for so long, HOWEVER I think my favourite thing in your videos, is just how excited and how much your facial expressions, express how much pleasure you get from the awesomeness of both the music and vocals/lyrics. Its like introducing a friend to a new song/band you love and watching their reaction! As always fantastic video!

I love how you point things out that make me appreciate the artist more then I previously did before with your analysis. Its so nice to learn about the technical aspect of subjects I was clueless about. Thank you once again.

I just learned of Slipknot five years ago. Im 60 and they are one of my favorites, one reason is due to the fantastic drumming by both guys. Joey and Jay are excellent ❤

One of my favorites from slipknot! “Vermilion pt.2 “ and “the nameless” are other great tracks from that album also 🔥🔥🔥

Metal is just an amazing genre, it varies so much but there’s some amazing singers out there.

Also, Corey's solo live acoustic performance of 'Bother' is another great example of his vocals.

This is a rare occasion where the music video version of the song is somehow more *raw* than the regular version of the song, despite being almost identical. LOVE this one
