PMQs: Starmer accuses government of trying to 'cancel' Gary Lineker

Sir Keir Starmer has taken on Rishi Sunak at PMQs, accusing the government of campaigning to "cancel" Gary Lineker.

The Labour leader claimed Tory MPs "waged a war on free speech" following the sports presenter's tweet, which criticised the government's new immigration policy.

The PM responded with allegations of "opportunism", claiming the opposition leader saw the BBC's row with Lineker as a chance to "to jump on a political bandwagon".

It will never not baffle me how the party in government’s only defence can be “look at what they have been doing… nothing?!” Before going on to list all the things they claim to have been doing.
How can a party not in government be ‘doing’ anything? It’s like shouting at firefighters for not looking after the elderly well enough.
