Woo! Thanks for watching. Are you guys tired of all these battery-related videos yet? I hope to get into more interesting stuff soon. Just working from the ground up! Hopefully I can start releasing videos more frequently too!

I have 7 of the 4s Arris 1500mah lipo's for 2 years now and use them a lot. They are going strong, long flight times and No sag at all. Im impressed 👍👍

I would have wasted a lot of money if I didn't watch this video first. My HOTA charger just arrived and all settings immediately made sense for discharge, charge, storage, and balance. Thanks Matt!! Not sure what I would do in this hobby without your easily digestible videos for us beginners to the hobby.

Thank you. 👍
I'm new to the RC world and I've struggled to understand lipo batteries even after watching countless videos!!

Your explanation using food and exercise made perfect sense.

I just checked on some old batteries I've had for probably over 3 years now, They were all under 2v. Safe to say I am glad I saw this video and that it reminded me of them

New into electric motors, and so on. I find your videos very engaging; your pace and cinematics are excellent.

Hey, I'am a professional battery builder and I think you need to try out using liion batteries on your Nazgul5.
With 4s1p 3000mah u get 14 Min of flight time and its as heavy as a 1300mah 4s lipo.
Great Video btw

I've stop looking at voltage, its not accurate to gauge when to stop. I fly 1500mah batt and will stop at 1200mah, all my batt now last more than a year. But its a pain to setup the current sensor..

Thx Matt, I just bought a new dual charger so this was a great refresher . Peace !

So basically we must check the storage voltage is 3.8 for each cell in a battery ?

Thanks Matt this video helped heaps I’m new to FPV and I’m getting really overwhelmed watching what seems like millions of YT videos on how to charge, discharge & storage on lipo’s 🤯 just bought the GEPrc cinelog 25 it’s been sitting here for a week because I’m try to get this charging info correct researching in my spare time. Your video is easy to understand. And what I’ve learnt from this video and comments are : Battery normal voltage written on my 650mAh 4s is 14.8v ✅ Fully charged it’ll be 16.8v ✅ storage voltage is around 15.2v ✅ Flying up until landing at 14V @ 80% empty ✅
I’ve yet to start watching your Parallel charging video but I’m guessing for example on 2x 650mAh: since I’ll set my charger to 0.7A it’ll be double @ 1.4A for x2 batteries and so on for x3 or x4 batteries. ? I don’t expect a reply but if you see this pls confirm then I’m set. Keep up the great work I’m lovin your channel 👍🏻

I've been flying for years and I wish videos like yours were around when I started. I always use a timer on my transmitter. I know how long my batteries will last and land if I've been speeding about or not so.

Come to think about it, one thing you did not mention is that if your quad has a current sensor, you can also use that as a very accurate "fuel gauge". If you fly with a 1000 mah battery in good condition, you can fly it safely and use about 800mah of current. This may be worth its own video, because you still want to double check the resting battery voltage and that your charger puts back 800 mah into the battery when charging. Good habits that also help you monitor health of your battery if you notice this capacity change when flying and/or charging. If you do make a follow up video about this, it may also be useful to talk about what a battery with a damaged cell looks like, where you may charge a pack and 3 out of 4 cells show 4.2v per cell and one of them may show 4.05v or something. This is a sign of a battery with a bad cell that should be retired or at least grounded.

I am still flying my 3 year old batteries until today. I mainly use them to warm up a little bit and then start using my newer ones. Obviously I can feel a pretty noticable power difference, but for my use case these are totally fine. Even when I crash them (bottom mounted batteries) I don't really have to care about them...

6:00, the battery is still under load, powering FC, motors at idle throttle and analog VTX on MB around 1W power, so when u unplug it it`s ok that its slightly higher, like 3.65-3.7v per cell
